When Mekhi Becton was drafted No. 11 by the New York Jets in 2020, he was supposed to be the organization’s future at left tackle. The 6-foot-7, 350-pound former Louisville anchor has not lived up to his billing thus far.
As a result of some brief weight issues and multiple injuries, Becton has played just 15 games. He missed most of 2021 and all of 2022.
Mekhi Becton Says He Has Chip On His Shoulder — Hopefully Not Made Of Chocolate
Now, with the team turning its focus toward the new era with Aaron Rodgers at quarterback, Becton’s position is up in the air.
76ers star James Harden made a promise to Michigan State student and fan John Hao during an emotional conversation three months ago. Hao sustained severe injuries that paralyzed him from the chest down after an on-campus mass shooting on Feb. 13.
After sending the 20-year-old a gift package, Harden told Hao on a FaceTime call that he wanted to bring him to a game once he was able to attend. On Sunday, Harden had the opportunity to make good on his word by welcoming the 20-year-old survivor as a guest for Game 4 of the Sixers’ second-round series against the Celtics in Philadelphia.
Yankees star Aaron Judge is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday vs. the Athletics after missing the last nine games, New York general manager Aaron Boone said Sunday.
The reigning American League MVP was placed on the 10-day injured list after suffering a hip strain on April 27. Boone told media ahead of Sunday’s game that the team wanted Judge to be fully ready to return to avoid a potentially more severe injury. As of now, Judge seems to be doing “really well,” Boone said.
This is a big season for Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. They finished last in the NFL in 2022-23, “earning” the No. 1 pick in the draft. They traded that pick to the Carolina Panthers for wide receiver DJ Moore and additional draft capital.
The NFL community is split on Justin Fields, it seems. Some, like myself, do not believe he possesses enough awareness to be a great NFL quarterback, despite elite athleticism. Others, though, think Fields can be an elite-level NFL quarterback.
Though the 2023 season is still in its early stages, it’s never too soon to look ahead to 2024—particularly when Opening Day is shaping up to be a historic event.
That’s because MLB is reportedly planning on beginning next season in South Korea with a two-game series between the Dodgers and Padres, according to ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez. It would mark the first time the league has played a game in South Korea, and the ninth time since 1999 that the league will begin a season outside of the United States or Canada.
MLB is playing four games outside of the U.S.
F1 has invaded Miami and the stars have followed.
The Miami Grand Prix quickly has become a premier event in American racing, as celebrities from all over the country have come together in south Florida. Plenty of famous athletes decided to spend their off time attending the race, which is only in its second year of existence.
Among those in attendance are two prominent NFL quarterbacks. First is Patrick Mahomes, who had a busy week attending the Met Gala and Kentucky Derby before arriving in Miami. While entering the stadium with his wife and friends, Mahomes had two words to describe his busy schedule.
“I’m everywhere,” he said.
Former UFC interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the early hours of Sunday morning, according to Robert J. Lopez of the Los Angeles Times.
The crash occurred in Hollywood when Ferguson’s Silverado crashed into at least two other vehicles and flipped over. Neither Ferguson nor any of his passengers reported injuries, a Los Angeles Police Department officer told the Times.
Ferguson was arrested after refusing to take a breathalyzer test at the scene. He’s reportedly facing a misdemeanor charge.
Tom Herman is a head football coach for the first time since 2020 after being hired at FAU back in December and has his eyes on a quarterback for which he is very familiar. Casey Thompson is set to visit Boca Raton next week as he figures out where to play next, and it sounds like they are nearing a reunion.
Roschon Johnson #2 of the Texas Longhorns is congratulated by Casey Thompson #8 and head coach Tom Herman after scoring a touchdown during the Valero Alamo Bowl on December 29, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas.
