The MLB All-Star Game is the perfect showcase for fans to see all the game’s best players on the same field. But fans aren’t the only ones who get excited at the chance to watch the biggest stars come together—the players get to geek out, too.
And who’s the player that other All-Stars are most excited to see? That would be Angels two-way star Shohei Ohtani.
At least, that’s the case for A’s designated hitter Brent Rooker, who was named to the American League All-Star team for the first time in his career. The 28-year-old had a .

Domingo Germán didn’t make it out of the fifth inning Monday at Yankee Stadium, less than a week after his perfect game in Oakland.
A trip down memory lane for longtime Derrick Rose fans continued in style on Monday after news surfaced of the new Grizzlies guard’s plan to honor his return to Memphis with a new jersey number.
Rose’s decision to join the Grizzlies in free agency evoked a crowd-pleasing, sense of nostalgia with the 2011 NBA MVP back in the city where he once shined as a one-and-done star for the Memphis Tigers. As Rose prepares for his 17th NBA season, the 34-year-old will do so with his alma mater in mind after deciding to switch to his old collegiate number: No. 23.
Saints tight end Foster Moreau announced via Twitter on Monday that his cancer is in full remission.
Moreau was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in March, something the New Orleans medical staff alerted him to while he was taking a free agency visit with the team. During Moreau’s physical, Saints team physician Dr. John Amoss noticed the tight end had an enlarged lymph node around his clavicle.
It was later determined after further testing that Moreau had a rare but treatable form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Padres outfielder Juan Soto is among the most accomplished players in the game. At 24 years old, he already has a batting title, three All-Star nods, three Silver Sluggers, a Home Run Derby crown and a World Series championship. So, it should come as no surprise that a day before his matchup against Shohei Ohtani (the pitcher), the ever-confident Soto is not afraid.
Specifically, he’s not afraid to do his patented batter’s box shuffle against the two-way sensation.
On Monday, Soto was asked what he thought of Ohtani’s stellar June performance.
For the better part of the past two decades, the Fourth of July has meant one thing in the world of competitive eating: it’s Joey Chestnut’s time to shine.
Since 2007, the undisputed greatest hot dog consumer in the history of the sport has won 15 of the past 16 editions of the famous Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, held annually on Coney Island. Given his track record, it’s no surprise that Chestnut enters the 2023 version as the heavy favorite. But the degree to which the 39-year-old is expected to lap the field again might scare even the most confident bettors away.
New Orleans Saints’ Foster Moreau received good news on Monday. The 26-year-old tight end announced that his cancer is in complete remission, months after being diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma.
Moreau shared the positive update on social media Monday afternoon:
“After a few tumultuous months, I’ve been blessed with the news that I am in full remission from Hodgkin Lymphoma!” Moreau tweeted. “I’m so grateful to everyone who reached out to offer their love and support; our prayers were answered. From here I will continue to live my life as God intended.
Elly De La Cruz’s dazzling first month with the Reds quickly made him a recognized name around MLB, a buzz that, amazingly, led to the rookie sensation receiving an invitation to the 2023 Home Run Derby.
Cincinnati and MLB fans hoping to see De La Cruz join the star-studded lineup, however, were disappointed to learn Monday that the 21-year-old slugger currently has no plans to compete in Seattle.
Clayton Kershaw will miss the MLB All-Star Game because of a left shoulder injury.
Trading talents like Damian Lillard and James Harden in the latter stages of their careers and at large price points is never an uncomplicated task.
