After decades of being known as the NFL’s loneliest number, the previously-banned No. 0 jersey will see plenty of run across the league in 2023.
Prior to receiving the vote of approval at this spring’s owners meetings, the No. 0 jersey, worn by only 15 players, had been cast aside following a rule change in 1973. But, with the restriction now lifted, several stars, including the returning Calvin Ridley, who was the first to take up the “Agent Zero” mantle, have since made the change.
With Week 1 officially upon NFL fans, lets take a look at the players who will wear the rare No.

Walker Buehler was supposed to help stabilize the Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation heading into October. But with breaking news on Friday, those plans are officially over.
And it once again highlights that the biggest revolving door in Major League Baseball is starting pitcher in Los Angeles.
The Dodgers started the season with a rotation of Clayton Kershaw, Julio Urias, Dustin May, Noah Syndergaard and Tony Gonsolin, with Walker Buehler recovering from Tommy John surgery and hoping to return before the end of the season.
Dustin May went down for the season with yet another arm surgery.
The Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns will square off in Week 1. While it should naturally be a heated NCF North rivalry, Bengals wideout Ja’Marr Chase threw a little gas on the fire with some good old-fashioned disrespect.
However, it makes you wonder if he inadvertently gave the Browns some bulletin board material.
While the Bengals head into Sunday’s game as slight favorites, they’ve lost five of the last six against the Browns.
Chase is aware of this, but that didn’t stop him from taking shots at the Browns when he could.
“It’s a regular game to me.
If any team in college football knows the value of a conference’s brand, it’s California.
The Golden Bears have been gradually discarded from the Pac-12 like yesterday’s news over the past two years as longtime conference rivals USC, UCLA, Oregon and Washington have left for the Big Ten’s greener pastures. Cal is set to call the ACC home in 2024 as its old home’s teams splinter into leagues nationwide.
Oregon State and Washington State have filed a legal complaint against the Pac-12 and commissioner George Kliavkoff, with the heart of the dispute being the distribution of the conference’s remaining assets.
Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay says it’s a “definite possibility” that injured star receiver Cooper Kupp (hamstring) could end up on injured reserve, which would make him miss at least four games of the regular season.
Green Bay receiver Christian Watson has been ruled out of the Packers opener against the Bears while fellow receiver Romeo Doubs is listed as questionable.
The bookend to Week 1 of the 2023 NFL season is perhaps its most anticipated game.
Josh Allen’s Bills are 2.5-point road favorites over Aaron Rodgers’s Jets on Monday. The total is set at 45.5, according to SI Sportsbook. The first Monday Night Football game of the year will mark Rodgers’ New York debut after he spent the first 18 years of his career playing for the Packers.
Buffalo has won five of the last six against its AFC East foe, but the Jets came out on top, 20-17, last November when these teams last met at MetLife Stadium.
ESPN retained one of its premier sports betting analysts this week after agreeing to a multi-year contract renewal with Erin Dolan, the network announced Thursday.
The new deal will see Dolan, who returned to ESPN in late 2021 after a prior 2017 stint, transition from the company’s Las Vegas sports betting team, based inside the LINQ Hotel, to its Bristol headquarters to serve as an in-house analyst.
In Bristol, Dolan will be featured regularly in-studio on ESPN’s Daily Wager, SportsCenter, Sunday NFL Countdown, and more.
Virtually any way you slice it, between keeping restricted free agent Austin Reaves at a surprisingly reasonable figure and adding valuable role players like Gabe Vincent and Taurean Prince, the Lakers have had a wildly productive summer.
And with free-agent big man Christian Wood joining the roster, too—at the veteran minimum, no less—it’s simply a cherry on top for Los Angeles.
That said, the ESPN report outlining that superstar Anthony Davis told the club he’d like to play less at center would seem to negate much of the benefit in adding someone like Wood.
