Things got underway over the weekend as the Memphis Showboats, Philadelphia Stars, New Jersey Generals, Birmingham Stallions, Michigan Panthers, Houston Gamblers, Pittsburgh Maulers and New Orleans Breakers played their first games of the new year in Memphis and Birmingham.

Jalen Hurts became the highest-paid player in NFL history on Monday when he agreed to a five-year, $255 million contract with the Eagles.
The star quarterback is due to pocket $51 million in average annual salary, prompting a brilliant reaction on Twitter from his agent, Nicole Lynn.
Lynn celebrated the record-setting contract by re-surfacing one of her old tweets. Back in January, while working on Hurts’s megadeal, Lynn asked her Twitter followers where she could locate a Brinks truck, indicating that Philadelphia’s quarterback would be in line for a gargantuan payday.

After a season plagued with injuries, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford started off his team’s offseason program by answering questions regarding his return in 2023 and if he ever doubted that’d he’d be back at 35 years old.

Last week, Haley and Hanna Cavinder announced they would forgo their fifth and final season of college basketball eligibility at the University of Miami, choosing to start the next phase of their lives instead. Instead, the social media stars will begin training with the WWE in hopes of becoming a part of the wrestling industry.
