Aston Martin Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso is in the midst of his best season in about a decade, and it’s all thanks to a decision he made last summer.
Alonso decided to step away from Alpine after two years —technically his third stint with the team — to join Aston Martin. At the time, this seemed like a lateral move at best, and at worst, it looked like it was going to lead to the 42-year-old spending his final years in F1 laboring away at the back of the field.

The on-again and off-again aggravated menacing charge against Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon is history following a not guilty verdict at the culmination of a four-day trial.
Judge Gwen Bender ruled in favor of Mixon Thursday morning. Mixon was found not guilty of the misdemeanor charge.
Mixon was accused of brandishing a gun in the presence of his accuser during an alleged road rage incident. Police originally charged Mixon then pulled those charges before charging him again, saying they needed time for further investigation.

The New York Yankees’ bats have been silenced this week (and also for most of the season), with Braves pitching shutting them out in back-to-back games and the Bronx Bombers not even mustering an extra-base hit in either game. 
One at-bat by Yankees star Aaron Judge in Wednesday night’s game was particularly emblematic of the team’s struggles.
Judge, one of the few bright spots in a slumping Yankees lineup, was struck out by Braves right-hander Charlie Morton. All three were knuckle curves that positively baffled the Yankees slugger, with one even making Judge drop to one knee.
