Ángel Hernández suffered another loss Tuesday in his racial discrimination lawsuit against Major League Baseball, as a federal court denied reinstatement of his case.
Hernández, the Cuban-born, veteran umpire, initially sued MLB in 2017, claiming the league is biased against minority umpires when deciding upon high-profile positions. At the time, he argued he had not worked in a World Series since ’05 and had been passed over for crew chief several times.
MLB promoted its first Black crew chief, Kerwin Danley, and first Latino crew chief born outside the U.S.

The 76ers announced over the weekend that the franchise had no intention of trading James Harden, instead ending trade talks with other teams involving the former All-Star guard.
On Monday, a video circulated of Harden addressing fans and media in China, where he called team executive Daryl Morey a liar and declared that he’d never play for a franchise that Morey was a part of.
Fast-forward to Tuesday, and star center and reigning league MVP Joel Embiid scrubbed all references of the 76ers from his social media profile on X, the network formerly known as Twitter.

Hail is one of those things in life that’s fascinating, it’s literal crystal balls falling from the sky during specific weather conditions, but it can turn from fascinating to hell on Earth in quite a hurry.
The latter occurred at Oakdale Country Club in Minnesota over the weekend.
We’ve all turned on a weather broadcast and heard a meteorologist say ‘golf-ball-sized hail is expected’ but more often than not, the hail doesn’t exactly live up to expectations. Well, it exceeded anything imaginable in Buffalo Lake, Minn.

Each year, the Manning family and a panel of media members annually releases the “Manning Watch List,” which includes a group of 33 college football quarterbacks to look out for as potentially the sport’s best in the upcoming season.
The results were released on Tuesday, with Texas starting quarterback Quinn Ewers making the list.
The ironic part about this, though, is that Ewers will be starting over Arch Manning, the nephew of Peyton and Eli and grandson of Archie Manning, all of whom vote on this award.

Sage Steele won.
We make that declaration today knowing the details of her settlement with ESPN and parent company Disney, which she announced Tuesday on X:
“Life update. Having successfully settled my case with ESPN/Disney, I have decided to leave so I can exercise my first amendment rights more freely.  I am grateful for so many wonderful experiences over the past 16 years and am excited for my next chapter!”
The dollar figure of the settlement is secondary. A dollar figure was never going to determine the success of the settlement. In fact, the lawsuit never included a dollar figure.

Bengals star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was interviewed by Sports Illustrated‘s Robin Lundberg on Tuesday morning to discuss a wide range of topics, including Chase’s list of the best wide receivers to ever play the game.
Towards the end of the interview, Chase revealed his Mount Rushmore of wide receivers, and the list didn’t disappoint.
“Alright, Imma do Calvin Johnson,” Chase began. “I gotta get Antonio Brown in there … I’d probably throw Cooper Kupp in there. I’d throw Kupp in there, gotta throw Kupp in there with the triple crown, and Jerry Rice of course.

We are inching closer to the start of the 2023 NFL season, so it’s time for the mad dash of fantasy football drafts to begin. That makes it more important than ever to put your players into positional “tiers.” Unlike my player rankings, tiers group players of similar value. So, if you miss out on a particular player, you can see others on the same tier as an alternative. And if that tier has been cleared, it might be a good idea to wait a round or two on players who fall into the next tier at the position.

The Little League World Series gets underway on Wednesday, and to me, it always signaled the end of summer.
But what a way to wrap things up.
Kids give it everything they’ve got to bring glory to their country, state, or region while other kids who aren’t as good at baseball slide down a hill on pieces of cardboard.
It is, in short, a slice of Americana.
While the games themselves are entertaining, the LLWS packs in even more entertainment value with the player questionnaire. In my opinion, this is the most fascinating part of the entire spectacle.

The Bengals–Chiefs rivalry has become one of the premiere matchups in the NFL over the last two seasons, with both teams matching up in the last two AFC championship games. When asked whether the rivalry is the best in the NFL, Cincinnati star Ja’Marr Chase had a predictable answer.
“Right now, yeah,” Chase told Sports Illustrated’s Robin Lundberg.
And the offseason hasn’t stopped the two sides from chirping at one another. Chase found himself making headlines over the summer when he was asked who the best quarterback in the NFL was and he said Joe Burrow.
