REYKJAVIK, Iceland (AP) — Authorities in Iceland on Tuesday warned tourists and other spectators to stay away from a newly erupting volcano that is spewing lava and noxious gases from a fissure in the country’s southwest. The eruption began Monday afternoon after thousands of earthquakes in the area, meteorological authorities said. This one comes 11 months after its last eruption officially ended.

The UFC women’s bantamweight title is currently vacant following the June retirement of former two-division champion Amanda Nunes. UFC officials have yet to announce who will compete for the belt when it’s put up for grabs again, but Holly Holm and Mayra Bueno Silva would certainly love to make a statement at Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 49 event and potentially earn a shot at that title later this year.
Holm (15–6 MMA, 8–6 UFC) is a perennial fan favorite and one of just five women to ever hold the UFC women’s bantamweight title.

Deebo Samuel hasn’t recovered from the brutal 31-7 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game.
During a radio interview on Monday, host Zach Gelb resurfaced comments made by Samuel where the Pro Bowl wideout claimed San Francisco would’ve beat the Eagles if not for Brock Purdy‘s in-game UCL injury.
Samuel wasn’t receiving Gelb’s comments lightly and hung up on the interviewer, cutting the media hit short 10 minutes.
Deebo’s reaction appeared exaggerated.

During the Major League Baseball All-Star Game, fans were treated to players being mic’d-up during live action and it certainly delivered some entertaining sound bites.
While the game’s best player in Shohei Ohtani was at bat in the bottom of the first inning, Fox broadcaster Joe Davis was talking with Dodgers stars Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts while they were in the field.
“They’re chanting ‘Come to Seattle.” Do you guys want to start your own chant to Shohei?” asked Davis.

It’s been over a year since Barry Bonds appeared on the Baseball Writers’ Association of America’s Hall of Fame ballot for the 10th and final year of his eligibility. And though MLB’s home run king remains on the outside looking in at Cooperstown he still believes that he deserves a place among the game’s all-time greats.
Bonds’s exclusion from the Hall of Fame is certainly not a reflection of his production, as he remains one of the most dominant hitters in baseball history.

The 2023 MLB All-Star Game is underway in Seattle, and it didn’t take long for basically everyone on social media to agree on one thing—the soulless uniforms being worn by the National League and American League teams are awful and should never be used again. 
MLB used to have players wear their normal team uniforms in the All-Star Game. But that changed in 2021, and it seems to take so much of the fun out of the annual game. 
This year’s uniforms make it very hard to tell who each player is, which isn’t ideal for fans watching in the stadium or on TV.

The NBA Board of Governors approved two new rule changes Tuesday that will be instituted for the 2023-24 season. The new rules will involve the issues of flopping and coach’s challenges.
The league now will award the opposing team a technical free throw when a player is ruled to have flopped in attempt to draw a call. However, the new flopping penalty doesn’t count toward the two technical fouls that lead to a player’s ejection. In other words, a player cannot be ejected from a game for flopping.

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant caught a ton of heat this past year for allegedly fighting a teenager during a heated pickup basketball game in 2022. Well, an arrest warrant has been issued for Morant’s best friend, Davonte Pack, for his involvement in assaulting then-17-year-old Joshua Holloway during the scene.

The Shelby County District (TN.) Attorney’s Office announced on Monday that the arrest warrant targets Pack for allegedly hitting Holloway after the teenager hit Morant on the chin with the basketball.
