Since San Antonio selected Victor Wembanyama as the No. 1 pick in this year’s NBA draft, the anticipation to watch the French phenom in his first NBA game has become palpable.
The Spurs will open NBA Summer League action Friday against the Hornets at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. Wembanyama is slated to make his summer league debut in that game, according to NBA reporter Marc Stein. But before Wembanyama takes the floor for the first time as a Spur, he explained to Michelle Beadle why he chose No. 1 as his uniform number.
“It’s a mentality.
Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo underwent an offseason procedure on his left knee, according to NBA insider Shams Charania.
The report described the surgery as being a “cleanup procedure” for Antetokounmpo, but it could potentially cost him the chance to represent Greece at this summer’s FIBA World Cup. The 28-year-old previously played for the country at both the 2019 FIBA World Cup and at EuroBasket in 2022.

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has yet to coach a down against a Pac-12 opponent. However, the Pro Football Hall of Famer already has rankled—and been rankled by—his future conference opponents.

The NFL granted eligibility for Jackson State wide receiver Malachi Wideman and Purdue wideout Milton Wright to enter the NFL’s supplemental draft on Tuesday.

Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees recalled RHP Randy Vásquez (#98) from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Chet Holmgren did not play a single game during the 2022/23 NBA regular season, so a lot of fans have forgotten about the former No. 2 overall NBA Draft pick. It might sound silly to say, but it’s true.
Holmgren spent all of last year on the bench, and had not graced the court since August until Monday, which, in a lot of ways, shifted the hype from the one-and-done Gonzaga star to Victor Wembanyama. 7-foot-1 Holmgren will essentially begin his rookie year alongside the 2023 No. 1 pick, who also stands above seven feet.
