The fifth week of Lions‘ free agency brought another safety to the team – or in this case back to the team. Avonte Maddox was valuable down the stretch last season for the Lions and may provide valuable insurance in case Kerby Joseph and Brian Branch can’t go.
Here is the excerpt from my medical report on Avonte Maddox:
(Ages in parentheses are at start of 2026 season)
Avonte Maddox, S (30)
Contract: 1 year, $ pending

Predicted Teams Atletico Madrid-Barcelona: Simeone settled on XI, Flick dealing with doubts
Atletico Madrid host Barcelona in the sixth and final between the two on Tuesday night at 21:00 CEST, with a two-goal advantage from the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. Diego Simeone seems settled on his starting XI, but Hansi Flick is dealing with more doubts.
Not in terms of his spirit though, with the German manager optimistic about his side’s chances to win. Los Colchoneros were quietly confident in their press conference, and the scoreline is very much in their favour.

Kylian Mbappe: “For me, playing for Real Madrid is like a gift from God”
Kylian Mbappe is currently in his second season at Real Madrid, having arrived from PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2024.
While it has not entirely been a roaring success for him at the Santiago Bernabeu, in terms of trophies, the French megastar has continued to deliver on an individual level.
In his debut season, Mbappe won the European Golden Boot, having netted 44 goals across all competitions. This time around, he is on track to beat that tally, having already scored 39 times from only 38 matches.

When Bournemouth brought in Alex Scott from Bristol City in 2023, it felt like it could be a real statement signing. It was clear that this wasn’t just a talented youngster, but a player with the tools to develop into at the very least a well-established Premier League midfielder – and boy has he!
Before his move to the Cherries, Scott had already built a reputation as one of England’s most exciting young midfielders, a player many that believed had a remarkably high ceiling from the off.

As Paul Skenes continues to stack milestones early in his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, the 23-year-old added another historic note Monday in a 16-5 rout of the Washington Nationals.
Making just his fourth MLB start of the season, Skenes recorded six strikeouts, pushing his total to 404 for his career.
In doing so, he became the first pitcher in the franchise’s modern era to reach that mark within his first 59 starts.
Just two batters into the outing, Skenes punched out Luis García Jr. on a five-pitch sequence, striking him out with a 90 mph changeup.

Jock Clear, who previously worked alongside Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes, said that Ferrari fully expected him to settle in quickly when he arrived.
After a tough opening campaign with the Scuderia, Lewis Hamilton appears much more settled in his second year at Ferrari. The seven-time world champion took his first podium for the team early this season, and looked comfortable throughout the race weekend in Japan.

HYDERABAD: It was a tale of two debutants and how they consigned Rajasthan Royals to their first defeat in IPL-2026 on Monday.
Praful Hinge (4/34) from Vidarbha and Sakib Hussain (4/24) of Bihar, the former 24 and the latter 21, couldn’t have asked for a better start to their IPL careers. Steaming in and hitting the hard lengths was all they did as Rajasthan Royals committed hara-kiri. The poise with which they overhauled RCB’s 201/8 a few days ago was clearly missing and poor shot selection added to their woes in the 57-run defeat.

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders recently concluded a spring practice season in Boulder that was quite unlike any of his others.
It was quiet.
∎ Nobody televised his annual spring game Saturday April 11, unlike the past three years, when ESPN or ESPN2 televised two of them.
∎ The NFL Network didn’t come to televise his team’s annual “Pro Day” workout for NFL scouts, unlike last year.
∎ Colorado didn’t even charge admission to its spring game Saturday, unlike the previous three years under Sanders. But that’s all OK for the Buffaloes after finishing 3-9 in 2025.

Swindon centre-back Ryan Tafazolli has suffered a broken elbow which puts his participation for the rest of this season in doubt.
Tafazolli picked up the injury during the 2-1 win against Walsall on 6 April, despite playing the full 90 minutes.
He missed Saturday’s defeat by Colchester and is expected to see a specialist on Wednesday to determine the nature of the fracture and his recovery time.
Swindon are fifth in the table, three points off Cambridge in third, and host Accrington Stanley on Saturday before a trip to Grimsby.
