DENVER (AP) — Max Muncy homered twice, Tyler Glasnow allowed two hits in seven innings and the Los Angeles Dodgers rolled to a 7-1 win over the Colorado Rockies in frigid conditions on Friday night.
The Colorado grounds crew had to clear 3 inches of snow from the Coors Field playing surface before the game, which began with temperatures at 36 degrees Fahrenheit (2 Celsius). But the chilly air didn’t cool down the major league-best Dodgers (15-4), who have won 11 of 14.

LSU baseball returned to the confines of Alex Box Stadium as it welcomed a hot-hitting Texas A&M team into town. The Aggies were fresh off a series victory vs Texas, while LSU was swept by Ole Miss last weekend. It was more of the same from both squads as A&M took Game 1 by a 10-4 score.
Casan Evans got the start for LSU on the mound, and the Aggies remained hot against him. Evans night finished after five innings of work. He gave up six runs on seven hits, eight strikeouts, and three walks. He gave up one run in the third, but it was the fifth and sixth innings that doomed him.

Charlie Thelen and Mason Simon each hit home runs while helping the Division 4 top-ranked Shamrocks sweep Division 4 No. 5 Fulton in a nonleague twinbill. Thelen had a home run and drove in five in the 13-2 win in five innings that featured the Shamrocks allowing just two hits. Mason Simon went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in the 12-6 win. St. Patrick scored all 12 runs over the final four innings.

Washington State transfer guard Ace Glass has committed to Vanderbilt. He averaged more than 16 points per game for the Cougars as a true freshman.
Glass led Washington State in scoring this past season with 16.4 points per game while shooting 45.5% from the field, including 36.4% from three-point territory. He also averaged 3.0 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Glass then entered the transfer portal when the window opened April 3. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Neither did Boston Red Sox left-hander Ranger Suárez.
Pitching dominance set the tone for both sides, but the Tigers fell short in a 1-0 loss to the Red Sox on Friday, April 17, in the first of four games in the series at Fenway Park, ending a six-game winning streak.
The teams needed extra innings to settle the scoreless tie.
In the 10th inning, the Tigers came up empty against right-handed reliever Garrett Whitlock, only for the Red Sox to come through against right-handed reliever Will Vest.

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole officially began his rehab assignment Friday, making his first start since undergoing Tommy John surgery in early 2025.
Suiting up for the Somerset Patriots, the Yankees’ Double-A affiliate, Cole threw 4 1/3 innings with 3 hits allowed, 3 earned runs, 1 walk and 3 strikeouts on 44 pitches. While pitch-by-pitch data isn’t available online, he reportedly hit 96 mph in the first inning.
He was also throwing quite a curveball.
