The Los Angeles Rams avoided a quarterback headache in February when they got a deal done with Matthew Stafford, keeping him for another year as their starting quarterback. The contract was agreed to on Feb. 28 but more than a month later, it’s unclear if Stafford has officially signed on the dotted line.
Sean McVay said on “PFT Live” Monday that he’s not sure if Stafford has signed the contract yet, but the Rams just sent it to him and his agent this week. It’s not that there are any holdups or issues. It’s merely semantics, McVay says.

The New York Yankees displayed custom-designed torpedo bats in their season-opening series against the Milwaukee Brewers, much to the chagrin of one of the opposing pitchers.
Reliever Trevor Megill watched as a few of the Yankees sluggers utilized their new weapons to amass 36 runs and launch 15 home runs (including a franchise record nine on Saturday) in the first three games.  The bats are designed so that the barrel is close to the hands, making them more effective at hitting home runs.

The NFL dropped one of my favorite things of the offseason: The official coach’s photo. Each year the league asks that all 32 coaches join together for a class photo during league meetings, and it never stops being entertaining.
What makes the coach photo special is that there’s seemingly never a plan for this thing. Guys just rock up in whatever clothes they happened to throw on and get herded like cats to get this shot.

Leading England players are exasperated that player welfare guidelines will be broken for a second season running, Telegraph Sport understands.
As part of the Professional Game Partnership between the Rugby Football Union, Premiership Rugby and the Rugby Players’ Association that came into effect last September, a new limit of 30 games per season was introduced.
