Varina (Va.) has lost senior running back SirPaul Cheeks for the season due to a torn ACL, he tells Rivals.
The Blue Devils played without the veteran burner on Friday in a 21-14 loss to Grimsley, one of the top programs in North Carolina. Varina is now 4-2 on the season.
Its next game is set for this Friday, Oct. 17, against undefeated Hanover. The Blue Devils are currently the No. 8 team in Virginia, according to the Massey Ratings.

In the history of bye weeks, perhaps this is the most-needed one for a preseason Super Bowl contender 
Zay Flowers can’t hold onto the football. Cooper Rush can’t command the offense. The defense has backups’ backups playing due to injuries (but did play admirably against a high-powered and rested Rams offense). Fans called for head coach John Harbaugh’s job with cries of “Fire Harbaugh!” as the Ravens fell to the Los Angeles Rams, 17-3, on Sunday, Oct. 12. 
Those people are delusional, of course.

If I told you this was going to be a headline in Week 6 of the NFL season, you’d assume it was in the Babylon Bee, or something. But, no, the Indianapolis Colts are legitimate Super Bowl contenders, and it’s time to acknowledge that. 
Sunday’s performance wasn’t the team’s best, but it managed to defeat the Arizona Cardinals 31-27, to move to 5-1 on the season. Now, we must note that referees have helped the Colts in two big spots this season, including against Arizona.

The New England Patriots took on the New Orleans Saints on Sunday looking to keep pace in the AFC East race.
Granted, that is, at best, a two-horse race at this point, but it’s still imperative that the Pats hold serve and stay within striking distance of the Buffalo Bills for the division lead.
New England was able to dispatch the lowly Saints (and the refs) in the Crescent City, but that’s not particularly newsworthy; everyone does that these days.
