Justin Thomas needed to make a 5-foot putt on the 15th green to keep the biggest match of Friday morning going at the Ryder Cup. But that putt — like so many others — skimmed the edge.
Thomas slumped his shoulders and headed over to shake hands with Jon Rahm and Tyrell Hatton after the European team’s 4-and-3 win over the U.S. power pairing of Thomas and Bryson DeChambeau.
A match that was supposed to build momentum did just that — but for Europe, not the United States.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is set to hand a reduced role to one of his players after remaining unimpressed with their performances. While the German manager praised his team for their comeback against Real Oviedo, one of his players did little for their credit with the German coach.

Head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the media early on Friday morning from Ireland and said the team has no plans to do a walkthrough on the turn at Croke Park.
According to Tomlin, it’s unnecessary since the conditions are the same for both teams. Croke Park uses a hybrid turf that is grown off-site and laid at the stadium as needed for events and then recycled afterward.
