LAS VEGAS, Nevada: Monster Energy Pro Circuit teammates Kawasaki Seth Hammaker (1:32.637) and Levi Kitchen (1:33.042) topped the first qualification chart with less than half a second separating them.
In the championship battle, Jo Shimoda (1:33.099) landed third to outpace fifth-place Haiden Deegan (1:33.743).
Ryder DiFrancesco (1:33.248) landed fourth on the chart.
Cole Davies clipped a Tuff Blox and face-planted late in the first qualification session, but he was was delayed getting onto the track and had completed only two laps.

Maryland football’s Saturday bout against Wisconsin was going to be a barometer for the Terps no matter the outcome. And while it wasn’t a perfect outing, it was a performance that should leave both fans and head coach Michael Locksley satisfied with where the team stands.

Saturday at the Baku City Circuit saw a new Formula 1 record, as six red flags flew during the qualifying hour in a frenetic session. When the dust settled, a surprising trio finished up front, as Max Verstappen took pole position ahead of Carlos Sainz Jr. and Liam Lawson.
That performance has Sainz in striking distance of his first podium with his new team, Williams.
After the qualifying hour, Sainz outlined how Williams “nailed” the session.
“Honestly, we nailed the qualifying today,” said Sainz trackside to Jamie Chadwick.

If you are even a tangential viewer of football, you are aware of the phenomenon known as the announcer’s curse.
If your quarterback hasn’t thrown an interception in a few games or, perhaps more topically, your kicker hasn’t missed a kick in weeks, you can bet your bottom dollar an announcer will chime in to jinx the good fortunes of your team and your team alone.
What might be a lot rarer than the announcer’s curse, however, is the reverse jinx.
