Brunswick (Ga.) athletic director Steve Watersreleased a statement through the team’s Touchdown Club regarding a potential revised resolution with the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) for their role in the bench clearing brawl with Gainesville in a Class AAAAA playoff game.
The GHSA last week had announced that it would be suspending 41 Brunswick players, fining the school $5,000 and barring the Pirates from participating in the 2026 state playoffs.

La Salle basketball head coach Darris Nichols was hired in March. His associate head coach is his older brother Shane.
“He doesn’t act like a boss,” Shane said. “He bounces off ideas, he listens, and we work together.”
Growing up in Northern Virginia, the brothers were always around the game of basketball. Their dad was a former college basketball player, so it was in their blood.
“Just seeing [Shane’s] work ethic, learning from him and my dad, helped me become a better player,” Darris reflected.

It’s the California Golden Bears who are hiring Lupoi after parting ways with long-time head coach Justin Wilcox earlier this month. Lupoi, a California alum, was among the top candidates for the job, and the two sides moved quickly in getting a deal done.
