The 2025 college football season got off to a strong start as TV ratings surged. Viewership increased across the country ahead of an anticipated campaign.
It started out strong with record Week 1 ratings, which saw four games top 10 million viewers. The biggest was Texas at Ohio State, which drew 16.6 million viewers on FOX. As of Week 5, six games hit the 10-million viewer mark.

CHICAGO (AP) — Michael Busch sparked a fast start for the Chicago Cubs — again.
Busch hit a leadoff homer in Chicago’s four-run first inning in Game 3 of the team’s NL Division Series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday. He became the first player in major league history with multiple leadoff homers in a single postseason series, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
The 27-year-old Busch drove a full-count cutter from Quinn Priester deep to right-center, tying the game at 1. It was the first baseman’s team-high third homer of the postseason.

According to the NFL transactions report, the Pittsburgh Steelers brought in a pair of free-agent linebackers for tryouts this week. This is on the heels of the team releasing linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley. The Steelers brought in former Las Vegas Raiders linebacker Michael Barrett and former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Isaiah Simmons.
Simmons was the No. 8 overall pick out of Clemson in 2020. He spent his first three seasons with the Cardinals before heading to the New York Giants for two seasons and, most recently, the Green Bay Packers.
NESN Boston Bruins reporter Sophia Jurksztowicz will replace Bruins legend Zdeno Chara as the keynote speaker at the New Hampshire Legends of Hockey Hall of Fame ceremony later this month.
Chara was originally the keynote speaker but had to back out due to his new role with the Bruins. The six-time All-Star defenseman rejoined his old team as a hockey operations advisor and mentor on Sept. 25.
The ceremony will be held on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Grappone Conference Center in Concord. Tickets can be purchased for $51.50 on the NH Legends of Hockey website until Friday, Oct. 17.
