San Diego Padres Fernando Tatis Jr. is scorching at the plate to open the month of June. Manager Craig Stammen has been reluctant to lock his superstar into one defensive position at either second base or right field because it might limit the offense’s potential. With the need for more run production amid key injuries, the Padres may be forced to place Tatis Jr. at one position to acquire another bat.

Two Michiganians, and two Michigan college hockey products, have etched their names into hockey immortality.
The Carolina Hurricanes clinched the Stanley Cup in Game 6 with a 3-0 win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Sunday. Taylor Hall scored the clinching goal 3:47 into the game, a 22-save shutout by former Western Michigan standout Brandon Bussi.
Alongside Bussi, Ypsilanti native Jalen Chatfield and head coach Rod Brind’Amour, who played college hockey at Michigan State, also won the Stanley Cup.
KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — Sherfane Rutherford reached his half-century in the last over of a dramatic run chase as West Indies completed a series-clinching five-wicket win with two deliveries to spare Sunday in the third Twenty20 international against Sri Lanka.
Rutherford was unbeaten on 54 from 40 deliveries and Jason Holder clobbered three sixes in the penultimate over, finishing 21 not out off five balls as West Indies reached 170-5 in reply to Sri Lanka’s 169.
The team captain gets to lift the Stanley Cup and the biggest question is which teammate gets it second.
The answer after the Carolina Hurricanes‘ clinching 3-0 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights: Captain and playoff MVP Jordan Staal handed it to goalie Frederik Andersen.
“I did not expect that,” Andersen told ABC.
Andersen didn’t play – or dress – in the last three games as Brandon Bussi started and excelled for three consecutive wins. But the Hurricanes would not have reached the final without the play of Andersen, who went 12-1, with a 1.
Taylor Hall and Jackson Blake each scored their seventh goal of the playoffs, and Nikolaj Ehlers had an empty-net tally, as the Carolina Hurricanes topped the Vegas Golden Knights 3-0 in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final Sunday, the club’s second NHL title.

Watch a tour of the arena outside the White House
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event at the White House is under way, after lightning tore across the evening sky as the first two fighters walked out into the ring.
The championship, the first ever professional sporting event held at the presidential residence, had been threatened by thunderstorms for much of the day – but went ahead despite initial delays.
It opened with US President Donald Trump walking from the White House to the arena along Dana White, chief executive of the UFC. Military planes then flew overhead.
