Texas Tech is calling on its backup quarterback again, this time at Arizona State. Will Hammond will start in place of Behren Morton, who is still recovering from a leg injury that limited him in practice this week, according to multiplereports.
Live from Athens, Georgia, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Saturday morning on “College GameDay” that Morton will be available in an emergency situation against the Sun Devils. Thamel also noted ASU will have its starting quarterback, Sam Leavitt, back in the fold.
Leavitt didn’t play last week in a 42-10 road loss to Utah.

Nottingham Forest have fired manager Ange Postecoglou just eight games after he was hired.
Postecoglou didn’t win any of those eight games across all competitions, and despite Forest showing plenty of promise on the ball and creating chances, it just didn’t work out at both ends of the pitch.
Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis was at the 3-0 defeat to Chelsea at the City Ground on Saturday but was said to have left his seat in the second half.
Postecoglou was fired just minutes after the full time whistle, with Forest confirming the decision in a brief statement.

Former Olentangy High School quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer will make his first start for Penn State at quarterback on Oct. 18 against the Iowa Hawkeyes.
A redshirt freshman, Grunkemeyer replaces Drew Allar, who has a broken left ankle and is out for the remainder of the season.
Penn State recently fired head coach James Franklin following a three-game skid against Oregon and two unranked opponents in UCLA and Northwestern.
Grunkemeyer has thrown 11 passes this season, completing eight for 105 yards and a touchdown.
Ange Postecoglou has been sacked by Nottingham Forest following the side’s 3-0 defeat by Chelsea at the City Ground.
The Australian’s dismissal – 39 days after his appointment on 9 September – means Postecoglou’s stint at Forest is the shortest managerial reign in Premier League history.
The former Tottenham boss failed to win any of his eight matches in charge of Forest, with two draws and six defeats across all competitions.

A junior high student in Arizona can’t try out for the boys’ basketball team because the hospital he was born at mistakenly claimed he was a girl.
Laker Johnson is a 14-year-old student who is an eighth grader at Eastmark High School (EHS) in the Queen Creek Unified School District (QCUSD). He’s played for boys’ sports teams all his life and clearly looks like a teenage boy.
In other words, he’s a boy in every sense.
