Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) is standing up for women in Afghanistan who refuse to submit to the oppressive, discriminatory Taliban regime. And she wants FIFA, soccer’s global governing body, to help her.
On Friday, Sen. Blackburn and Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR) sent a letter to FIFA president Gianni Infantino asking him and his organization to “take decisive action” in the fight against the Taliban’s extremism. In it, she urges Infantino and FIFA to recognize an Afghani women’s soccer team as the official National Team of Afghanistan.

The New England Patriots will head on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 12 on Sunday.
Draftkings Sportsbook greatly favors the Patriots to roll to their 10th straight victory over the banged-up Bengals in the matchup. New England is currently a seven-point favorite with the over/under being set at 43.5 points.
One of the biggest storylines heading into the game is whether the Bengals will have Joe Burrow back on the field. The star quarterback returned to practice this week and gave himself a chance to suit up on Sunday.
The Ann Arbor Skyline girls volleyball team saw its season come to an end on Nov. 18 with a loss in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division I quarterfinals against Byron Center. But the story is far from over for a team that rostered a trans-identifying biological male throughout the season, including during its run through the state tournament.
While the MHSAA allows trans-identifying males to compete in girls sports with an approved waiver, the organization has never provided proof that such a waiver exists for Skyline.

MAINZ, Germany (AP) — Hoffenheim conceded a late goal to draw at Mainz 1-1 and miss out on a record fifth successive Bundesliga triumph on Friday.
Mainz started the game second to last in the standings with just one win in 10 games. Five of its seven defeats were by a single goal and it looked like being a sixth when it went behind after nine minutes.
Hoffenheim striker Fisnik Asllani and Mainz defender Andreas Hanche-Olsen both went up for a long cross from the left and the ball came off the Mainz player’s head and deflected into the net.
The NCAA will not allow athletes and staffers to bet on professional sports.
The governing body announced Friday that a majority of Division I schools had voted to overturn a recent rule change that would have allowed gambling on professional sports. In early October, the NCAA Division I Administrative Committee approved a proposal that could allow players and athletic department members to bet on pro sports as early as Nov. 1.
Current NCAA rules prohibit gambling on college sports along with professional sports.
There will no return to the field for Arizona Cardinals running back Trey Benson this week. Designated to return on Wednesday from injured reserve and able to practice for the first time since he suffered a knee injury in Week 4, Benson was ruled out of Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at State Farm Stadium in Week 12.
Benson was a limited participant in practice this week all three days.
With Emari Demercado ruled out with an ankle injury this week, the Cardinals signed running back Jermar Jefferson from the practice squad to the active roster.
What a win. The USMNT played Uruguay off the pitch on Tuesday night, scoring early and often to secure their third straight victory, this one over 16th ranked Uruguay out of CONMEBOL. Sebastian Berhalter opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a beautiful curled shot off some set piece action with Sergino Dest who technically picked up the assist. Just minutes later Alex Freeman would score his first of the night, doubling the US lead with a header off a corner kick for his first goal wearing the stars and stripes.
A meeting between Ole Miss AD Keith Carter and Lane Kiffin took place on Friday afternoon in Oxford with the university hoping to gain some type of clarity regarding the future of its head coach. Now, all sides will have to continue waiting.
Over the past few weeks, Kiffin has been entertaining offers from both LSU and Florida, while also having an extension on his desk from the Rebels athletic department. To say that this has turned into a circus would actually be disparaging to the clowns who work under the big tent.
