The North Carolina Tar Heels opened the 2025-26 college basketball season with a win over Central Arkansas on Monday night, doing what they should have done and dominated from the start. UNC jumped out to an early lead, and extended it to 30 in the second, keeping their foot on the gas.
That performance was led by five players in double figures inclduing talented freshman Caleb Wilson as well as international guard Luka Bogavac who was cleared right before tipoff.
Wilson led the team with 22 points, finishing 8-of-10 shooting.

Sunday night’s win in Washington put Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald in select company.
The Seahawks have won 11 of their 12 road games since Macdonald joined the team and only two other coaches — Sean McVay and George Seifert — have had that kind of success away from home to kick off their tenures. On Monday, Macdonald said that credit for the team’s uncommon success on road trips should not all go to him.
“It’s a cool stat,” Macdonald said, via the team’s website. “I’m worried about where we’re going to go from here.

German bobsleigh icon Francesco Friedrich eyes a third straight Olympic golden double at the Mailn/Cortina Games in February and is yet to decide whether he will then end his glittering career.
Friedrich became the first athlete to win two-man and four-man golds at successive Games with golden doubles in 2018 and 2022, and he now wants the hat-trick on both events.

NEW YORK (AP) — Boston third baseman Alex Bregman and right-hander Lucas Giolito, New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso and closer Edwin Díaz and New York Yankees outfielder/first baseman Cody Bellinger were among the players who turned down player options or exercised opt outs and become free agents Tuesday.
San Diego pitcher Robert Suarez also turned down his option and went free on the third day of the five-day free agent window.
