BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Hilary Knight scored three times and Team USA routed Canada 6-1 to take a 2-0 lead over their cross-border rivals in the women’s hockey exhibition Rivalry Series on Saturday night.
Kelly Pannek, Laila Edwards and Hayley Scamurra, in her Buffalo homecoming, also scored for the Americans who were coming off a series-opening 4-1 win at Cleveland two days earlier. Team USA’s projected backup Gwyneth Philips stopped 29 shots.
Knight’s three-goal outing, capped by an empty-net goal, follows Abbey Murphy’s natural hat trick on Thursday.

Clemson’s defense, often under fire this season, delivered one of its better halves of football against Florida State, limiting the Seminoles to a single touchdown and heading into the break with an 18-7 advantage. While the Tigers benefited from a few lucky bounces, they made enough key plays to stay in command through the opening two quarters.

After Notre Dame’s defense struggled to stop the Navy Midshipmen’s running game and allowed Navy to tie the game, the No. 10 Fighting Irish needed a response.
And Notre Dame provided just that, thanks to the legs of backup running back Jadarian Price and the arm of quarterback CJ Carr. Oh, and the hands of wide receivers Malachi Fields and Jordan Faison.
It was Price who finished it off with a two-yard touchdown run following a fourth-down completion from Carr to Faison.
