Jets backup quarterback Zach Wilson started on Thursday night in the NFL Hall of Fame game vs. the Browns, and he quickly threw a pass that made fans quite excited for his long-term upside.
Wilson threw a 57-yard pass to receiver Malik Taylor on a 2nd-&-7 play during the first quarter. This ended up being Wilson’s only complete pass of the Jets drive, though. The play then resulted in a field goal.
Aaron Rodgers couldn’t hold back his excitement from the play, too.
And, this all happened on Wilson’s 24th birthday.

Justin Verlander spoke out for the first time on Thursday since being traded back to the Astros from the Mets.
The pitcher won the World Series with Houston just last season, and then signed a deal with New York. However, Verlander admitted that the trades of pitchers David Robertson and Max Scherzer made him realize there may be changes coming in his immediate future as well.
“As a player, you’re thinking it’s gonna work until the last possible moment,” Scherzer told Fox Sports’s Ken Rosenthal. “You’re like ‘We can always turn this around, it’s going to click.
Two contingents hold the cards in different ways to the future of the Pac-12.
First, you have the three remaining Four Corner schools: Arizona, Arizona State and Utah. As Sports Illustrated reported earlier this week, it’s unclear whether both Arizona schools are a package deal due to the fact that they share a board of regents, but the thought earlier in the week is that Arizona is the more moveable of the two in the Big 12’s estimation.
Ah, training camp. The time for teammates to prop up one another. Green Bay Packers veteran running back Aaron Jones threw his full support behind quarterback Jordan Love. Love takes over for Aaron Rodgers, whom the Packers traded to the New York Jets.
“The development to see [Love] grow in the three years that he’s had sitting behind [Rodgers] has been huge,” Jones told NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
“I don’t see too many differences. He’s just happy to be here, same as [Rodgers] was. I don’t see too many differences. Guys wanna be the best. I think it’s simple.
It’s been a rough week for the New York Mets and their fans, and it may just gotten a bit worse.
A season that started with exceptionally high expectations after huge financial investments from owner Steve Cohen all but officially came to an end by Tuesday’s trade deadline. The disappointing Mets traded David Robertson, Tommy Pham, Mark Canha, and superstar pitchers Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer. All over the span of just a few days.
Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert finds pleasure in the game of basketball.
So when the 31-year-old Frenchman made his first-ever three-point shot Wednesday night while playing with the French national team, he could only liken the experience to losing his virginity.
According to NBA Central’s social media, Gobert recounted the powerful aphrodisiac of nailing his first three-shot with the following: “Tonight, I felt like I lost my virginity.”
The crowd went wild for the shot.

Through the first two months of the season, Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo was off to one of his best starts in years. Then, a strange and—until Thursday—undetected injury occurred, and the 33-year-old hasn’t been the same since.
The team placed Rizzo on the 10-day injured list with post concussion syndrome, manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Thursday. The trouble stems from a May 28 incident in which Rizzo’s head was run into by San Diego’s Fernando Tatis Jr. while Tatis was running back to first base on a pickoff attempt.
One moment from the 49ers’ second week of practice is burned in coach Kyle Shanahan’s mind.
Fantasy football managers need to pay close attention to the words of Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson.
On Thursday, Pederson shared that due to the progression shown by Travis Etienne in training camp, a massive leap could he in the cards in 2023.
After gaining a solid 1,125 yards in 2022, Jacksonville’s leader envisions his star running back potentially approaching 1,600 or 1,700 yards on the ground in his sophomore season.
With 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy back in full force after undergoing elbow surgery, coach Kyle Shanahan spoke highly about the recovery process of last year’s breakout star on Thursday after training camp.
“He’ll get there. He’s doing some good things,” Shanahan said, via Pro Football Talk. “We’re not worried about Brock. Brock’s the real deal, he knows how to play and we just have to have our team keep getting better and we’ll keep getting better as we go.
