It was eye-popping at the time, but Mahomes’ deal looks quaint by today’s standards
At the time it was viewed as “unprecedented,” “massive,” and “historic.”
By today’s standards, it almost seems quaint, and it certainly looks like the NFL’s biggest bargain, even with a $450 million price tag.
It was the summer of 2020, and the Kansas City Chiefs, coming off their first Super Bowl win in 50 years. Their first order of business that summer? Locking up quarterback Patrick Mahomes to a long-term contract.

Damar Hamlin took yet another major step in his recovery from his January cardiac incident on Wednesday and no one was more thrilled to see the progress than Bills fans.
Hamlin, who has been cleared for full football activities less than eight months after suffering a cardiac arrest on the field during a game against the Bengals, ran out onto the field for training camp practice. As he did, he was met with a chorus of cheers from members of the Bills Mafia who were on hand to support their team at the beginning of its preseason program.
Fantasy fans who are committed players and want to have a long-term squad are probably already playing in a dynasty league. And if you’re not, you might want to give it a try with a startup draft. If you’re unaware, dynasty leagues have an initial draft that encompasses the entire NFL. Rosters are larger (20-plus players) and you have the same team every year going forward. After the initial startup, the yearly drafts include rookies only, though some leagues incorporate free agents.

Kevin Durant convinced Adam Silver to take weed off NBA’s banned substance list
Cannabis is no longer a banned substance under the NBA’s new collective bargaining agreement. After putting a pause on testing for marijuana during the bubble, the owners and players agreed to permanently remove testing for cannabis going forward.
When NBA players light up this season, they have Kevin Durant to thank for it.
A conversation between Durant and NBA commissioner Adam Silver led to cannabis being removed from the banned substance list.
Many wrestling fans and people in the wrestling world expected Cody Rhodes to end Roman Reigns’s lengthy title run at WrestleMania last April.
Rhodes had a great story in that he was not happy with his status in WWE, left the company, dominated the independent scene, helped start AEW and then returned to WWE a monster fan favorite. Oh, and he also happens to be the son of one of the most legendary pro wrestlers of all time in Dusty Rhodes.
But Reigns got the 1-2-3 on Rhodes at WrestleMania, and the WWE universe was shocked. And upset. Very upset.
Additional details regarding the status of Bronny James have begun to emerge Wednesday, just 48 hours after the incoming USC freshman and eldest son of Lakers star LeBron James was rushed to the hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest during a practice.
The incident occurred just before 9:30 a.m. local time Monday at the USC basketball facility in Los Angeles, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.

The Red Bull driver opened up about silly season, the pressure of F1, and driving next to Max Verstappen
It’s been called one of the toughest jobs in Formula 1, and even referred to as an eventual “death spiral.”
That job? The second seat at Red Bull.
That is the job currently occupied by Sergio Pérez. But as is often the case, the most popular pick for that job is one of a handful of potential new occupants, and not the person currently in the seat. Such is life in F1, and that is the place where Pérez currently finds himself.
