MESA, Arizona — Friday was Edward Cabrera’s first outing in a Cubs uniform and it was a great success. Cabrera retired all six Guardians batters he faced, striking out three. He threw 20 strikes in 31 pitches and had six swings-and misses.
The bullpen did a good job, too — well, with one exception, I’ll get to that — and Dansby Swanson homered and singled and drove in three runs as the Cubs defeated the Guardians 8-6.

With all eyes on Indianapolis for the 2026 NFL Combine this week, a select few players are taking advantage, using the platform to improve their draft stock ahead of the draft in April.
Oregon Ducks safety Dillon Thieneman was one of those players on Friday afternoon.
After some impressive measurements and jumping numbers, Thieneman toed the line for the 40-yard dash and turned heads, running a blazing 4.37 (unofficial) on his first attempt. He bettered that on his second attempt, running an official 4.35, one of the fastest times in Oregon program history.

The Team USA women’s hockey controversy, much of it manufactured by liberal media to paint the men’s team against the women’s, and create a gender war in general, just got more interesting.
According to recent reports by the Associated Press, “the women’s players accepted the invitation” to attend Flavor Flav’s “She Got Game Weekend” in Las Vegas, “without input from USA Hockey.” Their source “spoke on condition of anonymity because the talks were private.”

I’m fired up for the start of the Formula 1 season and have been doing some research for my highly-anticipated, fan-favorite annual F1 preseason predictions article when I got to Cadillac and realized something.
Despite the fanfare around their debut Formula 1 car, I couldn’t remember its name.
It turns out that that’s because it didn’t have a name, at least not until Friday, when the team announced that the iconic American brand’s first Formula 1 car has been named after one of racing’s most iconic drivers, Mario Andretti.
