The Connecticut Huskies won their fifth national title on Monday night as they beat the San Diego State Aztecs, 76–59, to cap off what was another madness-filled few weeks of NCAA tournament action.
Once the game was over, the legendary Jim Nantz shared a classy message before signing off for the last time from a Final Four.
Then after some postgame interviews and analysis, the broadcast ended the night the way it does every year—by playing the new “One Shining Moment” video that beautifully wraps up all the great moments from from the tournament.
Jim Nantz’s 32-year run of calling the men’s NCAA Final Four games came to an end Monday night with UConn beating San Diego State, 76–59, and winning their fifth national title in program history.
Nantz is moving on from college basketball, a sport his voice has become synonymous with as he’s called so many big moments over all of these years.
He did his best in the closing minutes of the game to keep the attention on UConn and what this night meant for them.
UConn’s run to its fifth national championship in program history was marked by dominance. And no player embodied that spirit more than big man Adama Sanogo.
The junior forward was a force of nature during the Huskies’ NCAA tournament run, which culminated with a 76–59 victory over San Diego State on Monday night. His efforts earned him Most Outstanding Player honors, capping the the night with 17 points and 10 rebounds.

HOUSTON – This wasn’t an NCAA Tournament for the UConn Huskies.
It was an Iditarod Invitational that they made their own personal dog race and beat the dog out of everyone.
No. 4 seed Connecticut trampled over No. 5 seed San Diego State early and often on its way to a 76-59 victory Monday night at NRG Stadium for its fifth men’s basketball national championship since 1999 and first since 2014. It lapped the Aztecs just like it blew by its previous five opponents over the previous three weeks.
The men’s college basketball offseason is officially underway, and it’s never too early to take a look at the best teams for 2023–24. With more than 1,000 players already in the transfer portal and most key NBA draft decisions still to come, rosters are as in flux as they ever have been at this time of year.

Despite a men’s NCAA tournament for the ages, a familiar face wound up on top.
Connecticut dispatched San Diego State 76–59 on Monday night to win the national title in Houston, securing the Huskies’ fifth championship—all won in the past 24 years.
Guard Tristen Newton led Connecticut with 19 points, and center Adama Sanogo added 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Huskies to be named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player. Forward Keshad Johnson led the Aztecs with 14 points.
San Diego State is not the 2023 men’s basketball national champion. UConn won by 17.

Although the Aztecs were unable to win its first-ever national title, you would not be able to tell based on the right butt cheek of one student who made the trip to Houston. It indicates the exact opposite.
San Diego State reached its first-ever Elite Eight and Final Four this season. The program had never advanced past the Sweet Sixteen until this year’s NCAA Tournament.
No. 4 Connecticut was one of the most impressive teams all NCAA tournament, and the Huskies finished the job by dominating 5-seed SDSU in the championship.
Something’s bothering Nashville Predators‘ Matt Duchene, but he can’t put a finger on it.
In the strangest bit of news to come out of the NHL this week, Duchene — the 32-year-old Predators forward — apparently lost a chunk of his left ring finger after taking a slapshot to the hand from teammate Dante Fabbro on Mar. 26.
