The Detroit Red Wings have a a busy day on Friday, June 27, as the NHL stages the first round of the 2025 draft.
It’s always a busy few days around that annual event, as teams explore trades and try to re-sign those of their unrestricted free agents they want back before the market opens on July 1.
The Wings hold their first pick at 13th, and also have selections at 44, 75, 76, 119, 140, 172, 204 and 211. Rounds 2-7 are on June 28.

SEATTLE — Mariners catcher Cal Raleigh, who leads the majors in homers with 32, said Friday he will participate in next month’s Home Run Derby.
The derby will be held on July 14, the night before the All-Star Game, at Truist Park in Atlanta.
It’s the first derby appearance for the 28-year-old known as Big Dumper. This season, Raleigh became the first catcher and first switch-hitter to reach 30 homers before the All-Star break.
“I’m excited to represent the Mariners and our fanbase,” Raleigh said in a statement.
The highly anticipated EA Sports College Football 26 numbers are in, and for the second consecutive year, Penn State placed highly.
The Nittany Lions earned a 88 overall roster ranking, which placed them as the No. 4 overall team in the game, behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Texas and No. 3 Ohio State. It’s important to note no team was higher than an 89 overall.
Broken down by units, Penn State’s defense led the way with a 94 overall ranking, good for third place behind the Crimson Tide and Longhorns. It was the best-rated defense in the Big Ten, followed closely by Ohio State at No.

The U.S. women’s basketball national team is back in action beginning this weekend as the squad plays in the FIBA AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile.
Joining Team USA and host Chile in the 10-team field are Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico and Puerto Rico.
It’s the 18th edition of the AmeriCup, a traditional 5-on-5 competition that has existed since 1993.

Just like that, summer league is around the corner. The NBA calendar never stops, even when the offseason is here. Less than a week after the Oklahoma City Thunder won their first championship, the entire league shifts its focus to the two-week Las Vegas extravaganza.
The NBA announced its 2025 summer league schedule on Friday. The event lasts from July 10-20. Every team will play at least five games, with the possibility of seven games. Four teams will advance to the playoffs, which is a semifinal and final single-elimination tournament.
