NEW YORK — The New York Mets’ depleted pitching rotation took another hit when right-hander Griffin Canning likely suffered an Achilles injury during a non-contact play in the third inning of a 4-0 win over the Atlanta Braves.
“He’s getting an MRI, we’re waiting for the result — but it looks like an Achilles injury,” Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said.
The Mets initially said Canning suffered a left ankle injury when he was hurt while breaking toward the left side of the infield on Nick Allen’s one-out grounder to shortstop.

Timo Werner is in talks over a transfer to New York Red Bulls after concluding an 18-month loan spell at Tottenham Hotspur.
Werner has returned to RB Leipzig after an underwhelming stint in North London, in which the German scored just three times in 41 appearances.

I have a tendency to get an unusual amount of excitement from learning about niche things in sports, so when I saw a video explanation of the ins and outs of PitchCom, I was all in.
As you probably know, PitchCom is the way that catchers and pitchers communicate what pitches to throw. Does it take away from the purity of catchers dropping signs with their fingers? Yes.
