Rutgers men’s basketball made expected history Wednesday night when Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey — both freshmen guards on the Scarlet Knights’ 2024-25 team — were selected in the top five of the NBA Draft. Harper was taken second overall by San Antomio, while Bailey went to the Utah Jazz three picks later.

Ahead of the 2025 college football season, the SEC remains loaded with talent on the defensive side of the ball. The conference is set to have another strong crop of edge rushers this fall. Few players on a football field can impact a game like an elite defensive end. A true difference maker on the edge can make a good defense great, an average unit good, and a bad unit average. It’s a rising tide that lifts all boats.
The best defensive ends do it all. They get after the quarterback on passing downs and set the edge vs. the run. They disrupt.
When the Commanders, the NFL, and D.C. mayor Muriel Bowser struck a deal for a new stadium, it was sold as a done deal.
The deal is far from done.
Via the Washington Times, the D.C. Council plans to have public hearings on July 29 and July 30. This means that the Council won’t vote on the proposal before the July 15 deadline articulated by tthe team and Bowser.
The team, per the Times, said this week that “any delay — even a few weeks for a council vote — could jeopardize the planned 2030 opening date.”
Regardless, the Council intends to do its due diligence.

Franco Colapinto is expected to stay at the Alpine Formula 1 squad beyond his initial five-race stint.
This weekend’s Austrian Grand Prix is the fifth race of Colapinto’s run replacing Jack Doohan, who was demoted after May’s Miami weekend following a bruising introduction to F1.
In Alpine’s initial driver announcement Colapinto, who was signed from Williams over the off-season, was handed the seat alongside Pierre Gasly for five races ahead of further evaluation, although de facto team leader Flavio Briatore has since contradicted that timeframe.
