May 12—Eight Permian athletes were recognized for their hard work for continuing to play at the collegiate level with a Spring Athletic Signing Ceremony Monday at the Permian Indoor Training Facility.
The athletes who signed on the dotted line during the ceremony included Cooper Popejoy, Jordan Bruner, Braden Young, Ernesto Melendez, Matthias McClure, Mylah Arzaga, Miley Minyard and Kai Keets.
Popejoy, who will be playing baseball at New Mexico Junior College, talked about what Monday’s ceremony meant for him.

The lottery has spoken as the Philadelphia 76ers will have the No. 3 pick in the draft and keep their top 6 protected pick away from the Oklahoma City Thunder. After finishing 24-58, the Sixers entered the lottery with a 64% chance at keeping the selection.
With the lottery results in, the Sixers are able to keep their 2025 pick after a disastrous season, but that doesn’t mean their business with the Thunder is complete just yet.
Philadelphia now owes Oklahoma City a pick in 2026.
