AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — A brief look at the second round Friday of the Masters:
LEADING: Justin Rose was at 8 under after his second-round 71. Bryson DeChambeau shot 68 and was one shot back.
CHASING: Rory McIlroy had the low round of the day, a 6-under 66 that got him to 6 under for the tournament. Corey Conners also was 6 under, while defending champion Scottie Scheffler was in a group of four players at 5 under.
IN THE HUNT: Jason Day was poised to join Ed Sneed in 1979 as the only players without a bogey or worse through the first two rounds.

Scottie Scheffler is in the running for a third green jacket and a second straight Masters title, but on No. 18, he had a little sit in the woods on his way to making bogey.
And of course it became a meme.
It’s just Scheffler, on his backside in the pine straw, just … contemplating life as his ball sits next to him. When you’re the world’s best golfer, sometimes you just need to sit back and take a moment during the world’s best golf major at Augusta.

The 2025 Masters has hit the weekend. We break down the odds heading into Saturday.
Heavy hitters line the top of the leaderboard after the second round of the Masters. Attempting to complete the career grand slam, Rory McIlroy is the current favorite to win the coveted green jack on the odds board.
But a loaded leaderboard full of former major winners, including Bryson DeChambeau and Scottie Scheffler, also have their eyes on history. DeChambeau outlasted McIlroy to win last summer’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst in memorable fashion.

The first high-profile holdout in college football is here.
The University of Tennessee football team and starting QB Nico Iamaleava are at a bit of an impasse.
After rumblings of a rift between the Volunteers’ starter and the team began a few months ago, the first public shot has been fired, with Iamaleava holding himself out of Tennessee’s spring practice session on Friday until he gets a new name, image and likeness (NIL) deal, per ESPN’s Pete Thamel.
