Stephen A. Smith wants to see Ja Morant’s father, Tee, do a little more parenting.
The embattled Memphis Grizzlies star guard is away from the team for at least a pair of games after flashing a gun on an Instagram Live stream. It was just the latest embarrassing moment for the 23-year-old NBA sensation.
He’s previously been accused of being in a vehicle carrying someone who flashed a gun at members of the Pacers, and he’s been accused of punching a teenager multiple times and also flashing a gun in that same incident.

Irsay’s potato video rambling about rock stars is so on brand.
Hours after being released I’m still not entirely convinced this isn’t a ransom video from Jim Irsay, or at best some weird AI deepfake.

In it, you can see Irsay, standing a good six feet from the camera, on a loud jet — all while filmed on a potato with the camera from a 2005 Motorola Razr attached. I’d ask him to blink twice if he was being held against his will, but the polarized lenses make it impossible.

The six-time All-Star was willing to change positions to accommodate the reigning AL MVP.
Before Aaron Judge decided to re-sign with the Yankees in December, Dodgers outfielder Mookie Betts apparently was willing to make a personal sacrifice to bring the reigning American League MVP to Los Angeles.
While speaking with Sports Illustrated’s Tom Verducci recently, Betts confirmed the rumor about him proposing to move from right field to second base to make way for Judge.
“Yes, that sounds probably like something I said,” Betts told Verducci.

TBS’ Costas opens up about much-criticized call during Yankees-Guardians series.
1. Let me start by getting the most significant observation of Bob Costas’s appearance on Bill Maher’s podcast, Club Random, out of the way: I’m not sure you’ll find many people who look better at 70 than Costas. If you told me Costas was 50, I’d believe it.
During his interview with Maher, Costas addressed his much-panned performance for TBS in last year’s Major League Baseball playoffs. The veteran play-by-play man admitted the criticism he received in the first game was warranted.

Plus more winners and losers from the NFL Combine.
Anthony Richardson is going to be one of the most polarizing NFL prospects in over a decade, and the combine solidified that while making the top of the draft entirely more confusing.
Perhaps nobody did more for his stock in Indianapolis than Richardson, who entered the process being viewed as the third or fourth quarterback to come off the board and leaving with legitimate conversation about whether he’s worth the No. 1 overall pick.

LeBron James clacked off an all-time absurd take about Michael Jordan and his dreams.
The Los Angeles Lakers star is known for playing pretty fast and loose with his claims, but this one is truly next level.
He tweeted Sunday that he regularly dreams about watching with Michael Jordan a UNC/Duke national title game that is tied at 94 with just five seconds left.
Then, before finding out who wins in this *VERY REAL* dream LeBron apparently often has, he has to wake up to use the bathroom.
“Never get to the end. Anyways felt real as hell,” the four-time NBA champion claimed.

Giannis showed us what stat-padding really looks like.
If you follow the NBA like an absolute sicko, you surely noticed the debate over stat-padding last week between ESPN commentators JJ Redick and Kendrick Perkins. Perkins accused Nikola Jokic of stat-padding as the Denver Nuggets big man inches closer to becoming the first player to win three straight MVP awards since Larry Bird. Redick strongly pushed back, and ESPN had something to argue about for a few days.

Derek Carr will have a new home next season in New Orleans, but how will he fit in their offense?
The first big domino in the offseason quarterback market appears ready to topple over.
While the league year is yet to officially begin, reports broke on Monday morning that the New Orleans Saints and quarterback Derek Carr are nearing an agreement to bring the veteran passer to the NFC South. As reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints “have emerged as the front runners” to sign Carr, and an agreement “could be reached as early as” Monday.
