Amid the season-ending injury to first baseman Triston Casas and negotiating a minefield with designated hitter Rafael Devers about possibly playing that position, the Boston Red Sox are making moves to make sure someone can play the right side of the diamond. 
Romy González had been one of the players filling in at first base after Casas’ injury, along with Abraham Toro. But Boston had to place him on the 10-day injured list on Saturday with a left quad contusion.

The Tennessee Titans have been busy making headway with their rookie draft class. 
Days after coming to terms with five of their selections from the 2025 NFL draft, Tennessee came to terms with fourth-round tight end Gunnar Helm on his four-year contract.

Helm is an experienced tight end who seemed to fall in the draft after a disappointing pre-draft process. His lack of measurables carried more weight than his on-field performance throughout his college career.

Edmonton Oilers goalie Calvin Pickard, who has won six games in a row, is day-to-day with an undisclosed injury so Stuart Skinner will start in net for Game 3 against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Skinner was pulled in Game 2 of the opening series against the Los Angeles Kings and has a 6.11 goals-against average and .810 save percentage. Pickard is 6-0 with a 2.84 GAA and .888 save percentage.
But Oilers coach Kris Knoblauch noted that Skinner came back in last season’s playoffs after taking time off during the second round and helped carry Edmonton to Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.

Whenever I watch the Kentucky Derby, I hold my breath because I don’t want to see a horse go down, but I never thought about having to hold my breath at the prospect of a broadcaster going down. 
Unfortunately, that’s what happened to NBC Sports’ Mike Tirico this year.
During the pre-race broadcast, Tirico suddenly disappeared from the set and was replaced by Ahmed Fareed (who did a fine job), but of course, there was some serious concern for Tirico’s well-being.
