I hopped onto ESPN.com to see what the Worldwide Leader is up to on the Wednesday after the football season. First mistake, I know. But I saw a video titled “Stephen A.: Andy Reid is costing Eric Bieniemy a head-coaching job.”
Ok, you got me. I’ll watch.
What I ended up witnessing was one of the most bizarre takes I have ever heard. Most people just blame racism when it comes to Eric Bieniemy. Tried and true, the race card always plays.
I’ll give Stephen A. some credit for pivoting off that into another realm. But the one he chose is flat-out strange.

The longtime coach won two Super Bowls with the franchise in his tenure.
Longtime Steelers assistant coach John Mitchell announced his retirement from coaching on Wednesday after 29 seasons with the franchise.
Mitchell began his tenure in Pittsburgh in 1994 when he was hired as a defensive line coach under coach Bill Cowher. He transitioned into an assistant coach in ’07 when current head coach Mike Tomlin took over the team.
In his 29 years with the Steelers, the franchise won two Super Bowls in 2005 and ‘08.

Damar Hamlin, specifically the designer letterman jacket he wore to the Super Bowl, has been a topic of discussion on social media. Former NFL running back Adrian Peterson spearheaded the conversation by calling the Buffalo Bills’ safety out for wearing the jacket, and now Hamlin has responded.
The jacket, worth over $3,000, had an image of Jesus Christ with a message on the front that read “Without end or beginning there is no day and there is no night.” On the back of the jacket, there was the word “Eternal” with an image of Jesus on the cross.

Texas’s new star is already dealing with health concerns.
The Rangers broke the bank in order to bring Jacob deGrom to Texas this offseason, taking a chance on the injury-prone ace in free agency. It didn’t take long for his injury woes to present themselves with his new team, however. 
After reporting to camp for Spring Training, deGrom will reportedly be held back “a day or two” after experiencing some tightness in his left side, according to Levi Weaver of The Athletic.

This year’s cycle is finally complete after teams took their time, broadened their scope and spent plenty of money.
Thank goodness we don’t have a long list to rank this year. In a minute, we’ll be breaking down the best and worst hires of the 2022–23 coaching cycle, but let’s take one moment to reflect on a few aspects of the cycle this year that I found overwhelmingly encouraging.
• Teams took their time: This year, two clubs, the Colts and the Cardinals, waited until after the Super Bowl to pry away head coaching candidates and got two of the best in the cycle.
