Sioux Falls Christian got their revenge for last year’s title loss Saturday night, defeating Hamlin 61-51 to claim the Class A state championship.
Griffen Goodbary, viewed by many as the top boys’ basketball player in the state, carried the Chargers to the win, scoring 32 points on 12-for-21 shooting. The South Dakota State commit grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds, including six offensive rebounds. 
Brant Wassenaar was the only other Sioux Falls Christian player to score in double-figures. The sophomore guard recorded 11 points on 4-for-8 shooting.

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Lucas Carlsson scored the go-ahead goal — his first of the season — with 3:23 left in the game and the San Jose Sharks topped the Boston Bruins 3-1 on Saturday night.
William Eklund and Barclay Goodrow also scored and Alexander Georgiev made 22 saves for the Sharks.
Casey Mittelstadt scored the lone goal for Boston, which lost its fifth straight. Joonas Korpisalo had 19 saves.
Eklund’s 16th goal, which matched his career high, came at 2:13 of the second off a crossing pass from Macklin Celebrini to put San Jose up 1-0.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Hugo Cuypers scored in the first minute, Philip Zinckernagel had an assist and his first career goal and Rominigue Kouamé played just eight minutes and scored in his debut as the Chicago Fire rallied to hand the Vancouver Whitecaps their first loss of the season with a 3-1 victory at BC Place on Saturday night.
Chicago has won three straight matches on the road for the first time since 2009.
Cuypers scored 53 seconds into the match to give the Fire (3-1-1) the lead. All five of Cuypers’ goals this season have come in the last four matches.

SEATTLE (AP) — Jimmy Maurer finished with four saves in his first start for Houston and Seattle’s Stefan Frei stopped the only shot he faced as the Dynamo and Sounders played to a scoreless draw at Lumen Field on Saturday night.
Maurer replaced Andrew Tarbell last week after the starter injured his knee in the first half of a 2-1 home loss to Real Salt Lake and was lost for the season. Maurer had 16 clean sheets in seven seasons and 65 starts with FC Dallas before joining the Dynamo (0-3-2), whose three losses have all come at home this season.

The Florida Panthers can go ahead and file Saturday’s loss to the Washington Capitals away in deep, dark drawer.

The first round of the women’s basketball NCAA tournament was magical. While many fans tuned in, likely expecting relatively calm matchups, March Madness seemed to have other plans. There were jaw-dropping passes, electric performances, and several battles that pulled people to the edge of their seats.
