Bayern Munich goalie and captain Manuel Neuer has suffered a setback in his return from a calf injury, the German club said in a statement on Saturday. 
Neuer has been out since tearing his calf muscle while celebrating a goal in Bayern’s Champions League last 16 first leg win over Bayer Leverkusen in early March. 
The 38-year-old had returned to training with the ball in recent days but reinjured the calf muscle in training this weekend.

The Washington Commanders still could use some wide receiver help this offseason. The Commanders acquired Deebo Samuel via trade to pair with Terry McLaurin, signed Michael Gallup, and re-signed Noah Brown and K.J. Osborn. Washington lost Dyami Brown and Olamide Zaccheaus (combined 75 catches in 2024).
The Commanders signed Gallup this week. The veteran receiver retired last summer but decided to give it another shot, and thanks to head coach Dan Quinn, he’ll have a shot at sticking in Washington. Even if things work out with Gallup, he’s more of a depth piece than anything.

Oscar Piastri raised the stakes in his championship battle with Lando Norris by securing the first pole position of his career at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Norris won last weekend’s opening round in Australia with Piastri only ninth after he slipped off the road in the rain when narrowly trailing his McLaren team-mate.
But at the second round of the season in Shanghai, Piastri pulled out all the stops to see off George Russell of Mercedes by just 0.082 seconds with Norris having to settle for third, more than a tenth adrift of the Australian.

The roster will be injecting some new life into it with the incoming recruiting class, which is now highlighted by New York’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
Kayden Mingo was named the Gatorade Player of the Year in New York on Thursday. Mingo is currently averaging 13.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game for Long Island Lutheran, one of the top basketball programs in the state.

A promising footballer from south London says being told he would never be able to play the sport he loves again was “one of the hardest things to deal with mentally”.
Collin Skhoyimue was signed to a League One club’s academy just before his 14th birthday and two months into his contract, he was selected to play a match above his age grade.
But that was short-lived as he suffered an injury to the cartilage in his knee during the game and was subsequently released.

Thomas Tuchel has admitted that Anthony Gordon’s injury “does not look good” with the Newcastle United and England winger perhaps facing a spell on the sidelines.
Gordon was introduced as a second-half substitute in Tuchel’s first game in charge as England completed a 2-0 victory over Albania in World Cup qualifying.
The 24-year-old went down in discomfort late on after his arrival at Wembley, and received treatment before heading down the tunnel.
His new international manager expressed his concern over the issue.
“He looks injured,” Tuchel said.

Athletic Bilbao, who sit fourth in La Liga, have sent one men’s jersey and one women’s jersey to Kent side Sheppey United and West Sussex side Steyning Town.
The shirts are to be part of a raffle at their respective fixtures on Non-League Day.

Lewis Hamilton claimed a historic first F1 win for Ferrari as he was victorious in the sprint race at the Chinese Grand Prix on Saturday.
The 40-year-old, who moved to Ferrari amid much fanfare from Mercedes in the off-season, secured a “gobsmacking” pole position with a brilliant lap on Friday.
On Saturday, Hamilton did well to retain the lead from lights out in the 19-lap race and he held off Max Verstappen’s challenge midway through the race superbly.
Oscar Piastri finished second for McLaren, after a late overtake on Dutch driver Verstappen, who finished third.
