It’s not uncommon for teams, players and fans to feel like the referees are out to get them. The Alabama Crimson Tide might have a point in their Round of 32 game against Grand Canyon in the NCAA Tournament. 
Alabama, the #4 seed in the South Region, scored 109 points en route to a Round of 64 victory over #13 College of Charleston. Grand Canyon, the #12 seed, upset #5 St. Mary’s to set up the battle with the Crimson Tide. 
Alabama entered the game as favorites, but they might feel like the NCAA Tournament referees bet against them.

Purdue Boilermakers head coach Matt Painter has had enough of Zach Edey’s critics.
After routing the Utah State Aggies 106-67 in the Round of 32, one reporter asked the head coach about his seven-foot center. Edey finished the game with 23 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks, and posted a double-double in the first half.
Yet some people in the media seem convinced that the only reason is good at basketball is because of his enormous frame. When the reporter asked for Painter’s perspective on the notion, he lambasted everyone who believes Edey lacks skill.

The No. 6 seed Tigers pulled off the first upset of the men’s Round of 32, knocking off the No. 3 Bears after nearly blowing a 15-point lead late.

Saturday night hoops in the NBA featured a heated encounter between Utah Jazz guard Kris Dunn and Houston Rocket forward Jabari Smith Jr. 
Dunn and Smith got tangled up in the second quarter, with several punches thrown. The players were ejected despite none of the punches having landed. On tape, Dunn started the kerfuffle, taking the first shot at Smith, the former lottery pick out of Auburn. Dunn had a clear shot from his proximity but flopped with a major miss.
Smith retaliated with his own jab — officials and players jumped in to separate the players before the scrum escalated.

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – Kim Mulkey could not resist posting up Washington Post sports writer Kent Babb again on Sunday afternoon.
A reporter asked after LSU’s game Sunday if Mulkey and her team “externally felt like maybe you were distracted a touch” by Mulkey’s tirade against Babb on Saturday, which included a lawsuit threat if an incoming feature by Babb on Mulkey is not accurate.

One UFC fighter broke the golden rule of organized fighting, leading to his seemingly permanent ban from the organization.
During Friday’s UFC bout between Igor Severino and flyweight Andre Lima in Las Vegas, Severino lost his cool in the second round and took a deep bite out of Lima. 
Severino had Lima pinned to the fence, going for Lima’s back, until the tight brawl suddenly broke up when Lima reacted in sharp pain.
The referee checked underneath Lima’s arm, finding the deep indents and disqualifying Severino.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani will speak to the media for the first time after news broke of a massive gambling scandal involving his ex-interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara.
The Athletic’s Marc Craig confirmed that Ohtani said – through an interim interpreter – that he wanted to speak to the media to bring some clarity to the situation.
According to The Athletic, the move surprised some within the Dodgers’ organization, given that Ohtani generally keeps interaction with the media at a minimum. However, manager Dave Roberts thinks Ohtani’s decision will be good for all involved.
