Hall of Fame centers Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar played 70 and 56 career Finals games, respectively. Legendary Lakers forward LeBron James has played 55.
ESPN/ABC broadcasting icon Mike Breen, however, has surpassed them all.
Breen will call his landmark 100th Finals game Monday evening when the Nuggets and Heat battle in Game 5 in Colorado. The veteran announcer’s first Finals game came on June 8, 2006, a 90–80 Mavericks win over Miami in Dallas.

Stephen A. Smith has a high-profile target for the Heat should they get sent home in Game 5 of the NBA Finals.
On ESPN’s First Take Monday, Smith said the Miami’s top potential acquisition this summer should be Trail Blazers star point guard Damian Lillard, who has been the subject of trade rumors in recent weeks.
“If the Miami Heat got their hands on Damian Lillard and managed to keep Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler along the way, we might be having a different conversation during these NBA Finals,” Smith said.

The Englishman finished in second at the RBC Canadian Open; the fifth time he has finished runner-up at a PGA Tour event in his career.
The 2023 Canadian Open was a tournament for the ages.
Nick Taylor drained a 72-foot eagle putt on the fourth playoff hole to defeat Tommy Fleetwood of England.
In doing so, Taylor gave Canada its first Canadian champion since 1954.
On the flip side, Fleetwood showed tremendous class and admiration for Taylor in the loss.
“Nice moment for Nick [Taylor] and the fans here,” Fleetwood said after the round.

Wayne Gretzky’s autographed jersey from the last game of his career sold for $715,120 at auction on Sunday night. The winning bid was one of 21 placed on the item at Grey Flannel Auctions.
During the game, in which Gretzky played for the Rangers, New York played its season finale in an overtime loss to the Penguins on April 18, 1999. Gretzky notched an assist in the game, which became the 2,857th and final point of his record-setting career.

Bill Belichick is the most decorated coach in NFL history, but he’d be nowhere without his players. The longtime Patriots coach has enjoyed a coaching career that spans nearly 50 years, and he believes he has coached the best offensive, defensive and special teams players in NFL history.
“I feel like I’ve coached the best offensive player, the best player in football in Tom [Brady]; the best defensive player in football in L.T. [Lawrence Taylor] and the best special-teams player in football in Matt Slater,” Belichick told The 33rd Team’s Mike Tannenbaum.

Longtime NBA executive Jerry West revealed shocking news about Kobe Bryant’s career during a recent podcast appearance.
West, in an interview on Podcast P with Paul George, told the story of a meeting between him, Bryant and Bryant’s agent at the time, Rob Pelinka, in 2004 when Bryant hit free agency at the age of 25. According to West, who was the general manager of the Grizzlies at the time, Bryant told him he wanted to join Memphis in free agency before West talked him out of it.
“I looked at him and I said ‘You kidding me?’” West said. “I said ‘Kobe, no.

Just days after the University of Oklahoma softball team won its third consecutive Women’s College World Series title, star pitcher Jordy Bahl has announced plans to transfer.
Bahl, a sophomore, was named Most Outstanding Player at this year’s WCWS after throwing 24 2/3 scoreless innings against Stanford, Tennessee and Florida State. She struck out 33 hitters and only allowed 12 hits and four walks in five appearances.
Bahl did not name any potential transfer destinations at this time.

Rich Lowry is the Editor-In-Chief of National Review. On Monday, he penned an article about Toronto Blue Jays catcher Brady Deeker, a non-binary athlete who the team called up from the minor leagues to start for the big-league club.
One problem: Brady Deeker doesn’t exist. He’s not a real baseball player, not even a real person. Lowry made him up to prove a point.
The article presents as real news, but is clearly satire. I saw the story circulating and realized after the second sentence that it couldn’t be real.
