Former NFL cornerback Bashaud Breeland entered a world of trouble, just two years since his last snap in the league.
Breeland was held in Mecklenburg County Jail early Tuesday after North Carolina authorities found the 31-year-old driving a stolen vehicle packed with a crazy haul of items set to begin a legal nightmare for the ex-CB.

In the vehicle, Breeland possessed four firearms — two AR-15s and two AK47s — 5 pounds of marijuana and 62 grams of ‘shrooms.

I didn’t think that when I sat down at my computer this morning I’d have a goal from the world of hockey to talk about, but dammit, if Alexander Ovechkin didn’t deliver the way he so often does.
The man will probably become the top goal-scorer in NHL history in a few years, so it shouldn’t be a shock that he’s throwing down highlight-reel material in August.
This one comes from an exhibition game in Ovie’s home country of Russia, the land of vodka, bears riding unicycles and Danis Zaripov.
That last name is key in this instance.

Former ESPN host Rachel Nichols will be among the regular panelists to join Skip Bayless on Undisputed when the show returns on August 28.
Nichols will join a rotation of Richard Sherman and rapper Lil Wayne, as first reported by SBJ. Undisputed has been on hiatus since Shannon Sharpe’s final episode in June.
Specifically, Wayne will appear for a segment each week on Fridays. Sherman is nearing a deal to appear on the program for around 75 dates, most of which will occur during the football season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday completed a dominant series win over the San Diego Padres in dramatic fashion.
A shaky start by Tony Gonsolin staked the Padres to a 5-0 lead through the first three innings. But an offensive explosion led to an eight run fourth for Los Angeles, capped off by a grand slam from superstar outfielder Mookie Betts.

The Dodgers racked up six hits in the inning against starter Seth Lugo, including two doubles and the aforementioned homer.

Offseason Moves
The Seahawks used this offseason to go all-in. They re-signed Geno Smith — who had a career year last season — to a three-year contract extension.

Tampering is rampant with college football and it is not a secret. Money drives success in the sport and NIL made that even more true than it was when players were being compensated under the table.
Programs with more money are able to recruit pay for better talent. Better talent typically leads to better results.
In addition to NIL money’s impact on the recruiting trail, it has a big role in the transfer portal.

As the calendar approaches mid-August, the Yankees find themselves in an unfamiliar position as American League East afterthoughts. Entering play on Wednesday, the team sits 11 1/2 games behind first-place Baltimore, and is a mere one-half game ahead of the Red Sox for last place. Given that relative underperformance, there’s been rampant speculation among fans about the future of two team leaders: general manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone.
Although much is left to unfold in the coming weeks, it seems as though Cashman’s job is already secured for 2024.

Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards has to pay $50,000 in fines after swinging a chair out of frustration during the NBA Playoffs, which almost hit two workers at Ball Arena in Denver.
Edwards and the T-Wolves were eliminated by the Nuggets (4-1) moments before Ant’s tirade. He was charged with misdemeanor third-degree assault.
As previously reported on OutKick, footage of the incident showed Edwards walking toward the locker room in apparent frustration, grabbing a chair and swinging it.
