Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars surprised everyone last NFL season when they won their last five NFL regular season games to capture the AFC South crown. Then, they came back from a 27-0 deficit in the Wild Card Round against the Los Angeles Chargers to win.
The Jags and Lawrence also gave the Kansas City Chiefs a run for their money in the Divisional Round before falling 27-20.
With that, many people expect Jacksonville to pick right up and continue their upward momentum. After all, they have the former No.

It’s the day every NFL player fears.
On the next-to-last Tuesday before the regular season, teams are required to trim their rosters from their bloated preseason sizes to a tidy 53 players. It’s a process that can lead to difficult decisions, rookies and veterans alike saying goodbye and the occasional trade.
Every year, some cuts jump off the page. College legends, big-name journeymen and fantasy stars often rank among the exiled. Occasionally, cut players find their way back to their former teams via the practice squad.

Week 1 is here, and despite the fact that conference indecision still runs rampant throughout college sports, on the field it’s starting to clear up regarding who exactly will be starting behind center for respective teams. Some are keeping it close to the vest, while others long ago decided who was QB1.
We’ve seen teams handle this in different ways recently. Playoff contender Michigan, for instance, announced before last season started that they would play both J.J. McCarthy and Cade McNamara in each of their two opening games.

On Tuesday, the Philadelphia Eagles released punter Arryn Siposs. He was the only punter on the team’s roster. So, with just 12 days before their first game, the Eagles do not have a punter. Fortunately, Eagles fans have a solution: Matt Araiza.
Araiza, nicknamed “Punt God,” was released by the Buffalo Bills prior to last season after allegations surfaced that he participated in the gang rape of a minor. The police declined to charge Araiza in the incident because of a lack of evidence to corroborate the girl’s story.
The legal battle continues to play out.

McLaren driver Lando Norris was on hand to see Red Bull’s Max Verstappen get a new Hungarian Grand Prix trophy after he accidentally broke the first one during podium celebrations.
In July, Verstappen won the Hungarian Grand Prix — just like he has won all of the last 9 races — and was given an ornate porcelain trophy, that we soon learned was also very fragile.
Norris finished P2 and joined Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez who finished 3rd on the podium.

The New Orleans Saints are going with the kid.
The Saints traded veteran kicker Wil Lutz to Denver on Tuesday and will keep rookie kicker Blake Grupe. What New Orleans receives in the deal was still developing. The NFL Network reported the story first.

Lutz, 29, has been with the Saints since the 2016 season. He missed all of 2021 with a core muscle injury that required multiple surgeries. Lutz returned in 2022, but suffered through his worst season as a pro, making just 74 percent of his field goal attempts (23 of 31).

U.S. Captain Zach Johnson made his six captain’s picks Tuesday and Keegan Bradley was left off the team.
U.S. Captain Zach Johnson has made his six captain’s picks for next month’s Ryder Cup.
He selected Brooks Koepka, Justin Thomas, Sam Burns, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, and Rickie Fowler.
These players join Scottie Scheffler, Wyndham Clark, Brian Harman, Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, and Xander Schauffele on Team USA.

LeBron James always has basketball on his mind, even when it comes to his bedtime outfits, apparently. The Lakers star was caught on camera by his wife, Savannah, while he was wearing an incredible basketball-themed onesie, complete with hood and all.
James tells his wife he’s “getting ready for bed” and explains his wild fit is “his night clothes,” to which Savannah responds that he looks like he’s “about to bounce up out of here.”
It didn’t stop there, as elder son Bronny James was next to arrive in the video, and he showed off his own fit.

So where does that leave everyone?
I think a fair scenario to project would be Indianapolis getting a second-round pick, plus a Day 3 pick (and a relatively high one) for Taylor, with Taylor landing a contract somewhere between $13 and $14 million per year, and about $40 million over the first three years.
