Success is far from guaranteed in Las Vegas, and the A’s don’t care.
For the second time in three years a major sports team is leaving Oakland and heading to Las Vegas. On Wednesday the A’s announced the team had signed a binding agreement to purchase 49 acres of land in Las Vegas, with the intention of building a new ballpark in the city.

With the 2023 NFL Draft just one week away, Pete Carroll is gearing up for his 14th year in the Seattle war room. The 71-year-old head coach and the Seattle Seahawks will pick 20th overall with prominent needs at linebacker, defensive tackle, running back, receiver and center.
Regardless of who the organization ends up drafting, Carroll is prepared to keep adapting to a new era.
Pete Carroll sees NIL changing the NFL.

The 2023 NFL draft is almost upon us, which excites both the real and fantasy fan bases across the globe. Over the years, the league has seen a major move towards wide receivers, especially in the first round. What proof? Well, since 2000, no offensive skill spot has been selected in Round 1 more often, and it’s not close. In fact, 94 have been picked in that time. Compare that to 66 quarterbacks, 51 running backs and 25 tight ends, and the position’s dominance is very well documented.

The U.S. Soccer Federation made some money Wednesday night, and that’s important for an organization facing an eight-figure deficit. More than 55,000 people showed up at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Ariz., for a meaningless, midweek friendly scheduled outside a FIFA international window.
That’s the power of USA-Mexico. Anything resembling the senior men’s teams of those longtime rivals and frequent business partners—and potential 2027 Women’s World Cup cohosts, as they announced Wednesday—will draw a crowd and boost the bottom line. That’s been obvious for years.

It isn’t enough to say Sergei Pavlovich won three fights in 2022.
He absolutely dominated them.
Pavlovich ended all three of those fights in the opening round, finishing two of them in the first minute. Now he approaches a heavyweight clash against Curtis Blaydes this Saturday, with the winner poised to challenge the heavyweight champion—whether that be reigning champ Jon Jones or No.

Chael Sonnen doesn’t want to see the youth wrestler who threw a violent punch get a lifetime ban.
Hafid Alicea of Maine West High School in Illinois is in seriously hot water after he obliterated his opponent with a disgusting sucker punch after losing a recent wrestling match.
It was one of the most shocking displays of poor sportsmanship fans have seen in a long time.

After Jalen Hurts signed a record-breaking five-year, $255 million contract extension with the Eagles to become the highest-paid player in NFL history earlier this week, reports regarding the Ravens’ contract extension offer to Lamar Jackson began to come to light.
Based on Baltimore’s reported offer to Jackson last August, there are indications that the potential deal was better than the one Hurts received from the Eagles.

Every team in the first round of the NBA playoffs has played two games, and starting Thursday, every series will switch locales as Game 3s get underway. With the playoff hoops already feeling hot and heavy, here are five big questions to keep an eye on as the postseason continues.
Will the Clippers stop the drop?
All the fears opponents had about the Suns’ midrange prowess came true for Los Angeles in its Game 2 loss to Phoenix. The Suns shot 29—29!!!!!!—midrange jumpers against the Clips in Game 2. For reference, the Bulls led the league in such shot attempts at 17.

1. The NFL draft is one week away, and tensions are high. Not just for the players and teams, but also for those in the media.
A skirmish broke out on Twitter on Wednesday between ESPN’s Ryan Clark and CBS’s Brady Quinn over Quinn sharing an unflattering anecdote about Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud.
According to Quinn, Stroud blew off the Manning Passing Academy.
“I’ve been told that he committed to [the Manning Passing Academy] the night before, [and] just kind of ghosted them, didn’t show up,” Quinn said on his Pick Six Podcast. “That’s football royalty.

There’s a reason we call NFL Draft season the “silly season.” The time is now to dissect prospects up and down. Why? Because there’s no other football and a two-and-a-half month gap between the Super Bowl and the draft. That sets the stage for a Twitter beef between former NFL’ers Ryan Clark and Brady Quinn over QB prospect CJ Stroud.
Stroud is currently a hot topic. Just a few weeks ago, he appeared to be a lock to go No. 1 overall. Now, it looks like that’s going to be Bryce Young. On top of that, the Houston Texans are publicly saying they’re not taking a QB for sure.
