Last week, Brittney Griner made headlines after she supported biological men playing in women’s sports. And Sunday, former Kentucky swimmer Riley Gaines called her out on it.
Griner — who happily criticized the United States before she had to be bailed out of Russian prison for taking an illegal substance into a foreign country – believes banning transgender athletes from competing against women is “a crime.”

“That ranks high on the list of things I’ll be fighting for and speaking up against,” Griner said.

One of the biggest stories of the first round of the NFL Draft was Kentucky quarterback Will Levis. Expected to be selected in the first round, possibly the Top 5, no team picked him Thursday. He chose not to attend the second round, even though the Tennessee Titans selected him almost immediately.
Of course, because it’s 2023, memes of Will Levis, his girlfriend and his sister are all over social media.
“Poor Will Levis, suffering public humiliation in front of a massive national audience,” people thought.

The NBA has fined Grizzlies forward Dillon Brooks $25,000 for violating the league’s rules regarding media interview access during the team’s first round series against the Lakers.
The enigmatic forward made headlines throughout the series for his comments and actions on and off the court. However, when Memphis lost Games 3, 4 and 6 in Los Angeles, Brooks declined to speak with media members after the games. He even blamed media for making him seem like a “villain” during the series.

New Orleans is known for its delectable and signature seafood. Gumbo, jambalaya and crawfish are just a handful of some of the amazing dishes found there. They’re all delicious, at times spicy, and maybe the most important trait they all share: You don’t eat them with barbecue sauce. Unfortunately, one of the city’s newest residents broke that edict in a video that has since caused great alarm among Louisiana natives.
Jamaal Williams signed a three-year deal with the Saints in March, but he’s off to a rough start when it comes to ingratiating himself in his new environment.

Colorado football coach Deion Sanders has endured a mass exodus of players into the transfer portal as he overhauls the Buffaloes roster, but he just added a key piece from an SEC power.
Jahquez Robinson, a defensive back who spent the past three seasons at Alabama, has committed to play for Colorado in 2023, he announced on social media. Last year, Robinson played in six games for the Crimson Tide.
Robinson is a former four-star recruit who committed to Alabama out of high school in 2020.

When it comes to handling the media, Aaron Rodgers likes to call the shots. But according to Michael Strahan, that attitude won’t work in New York.
Appearing on The Tonight Show, the New York Giants legend said he’s not sure Rodgers and the NYC media will mesh.
“The media here is kind of like guilty until proven innocent,” Strahan said. “They don’t like you — you have to make them like you, and I think he comes in already off darkness retreat, so they’re gonna be like, ‘You know, this guy.’”
The darkness retreat he’s referring to is at Sky Cave in Oregon.

The Suns got a major wake-up call in Game 1 against Denver.
In a lot of respects, this half of the Western Conference Semifinals could be simplified down to Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic vs Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. All four have been some of the most efficient offensive contributors leading their team’s efficient offenses. In game 1, the Nuggets’ pair won the battle, no question.
Murray didn’t play at all the last time these two teams met in the playoffs, ending with a quick “Suns in 4” ending.

One of the most anticipated days in the NFL offseason occurs when the next season’s schedule is released for all 32 teams, allowing fans to begin making travel plans to see their favorite matchups.
The date for the schedule release typically doesn’t get announced until a couple months into the offseason, and the date often lands sometime in May.
For the 2023 season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the tentative date for the schedule release is Thursday, May 11.
