Denver Broncos coach Sean Payton was entertaining but he stepped in it when he made some controversial (also truthful) comments to USA Today earlier this week.
And now Payton, seeing all the poo on his shoes, is trying to clean up the situation.
“Yeah, listen, I had one of those moments where I still had my FOX hat on, and not my coaching hat on,” Payton told reporters moments ago. “I said this to the team in a meeting yesterday, we’ve had a great offseason relative to that, you know, and I’ve been preaching that message. And here I am, the veteran stepping in it.

As teams continue to make moves ahead of the MLB trade deadline, the Dodgers reportedly struck a deal with the White Sox on Friday to bolster their pitching rotation.
Los Angeles reached an agreement on a trade to acquire Chicago pitchers Lance Lynn and Joe Kelly, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Joel Sherman of the New York Post was the first to report news of the deal.
The White Sox will receive Double A pitchers Nick Nastrini and Jordan Leasure and outfielder Trayce Thompson in the deal.

Steph Curry says that one of the things that made him the player we see dominating at the NBA level is thanks to having attended a small college.
Or at least, the right one.
The Golden State Warriors star was a guest on a recent episode of the internet series Hot Ones. While downing progressively hotter wings, Curry was asked if he would be the same player he is now had he gone somewhere other than Davidson College.
“That’s a great question,” Curry said, per CBS Sports.

After stepping out of bounds with personal attacks on many involved with the Broncos’ struggles last season, Sean Payton made his best attempt at damage control on Friday.
Despite having experience both in front of and behind the microphone in his career, Payton admitted that it’s an experience that he will learn from in the future.
“I had one of those moments where I still had my Fox hat and not my coaching hat,” said a contrite Payton. “Here I am the veteran stepping in it and it was a learning experience for me and it was a mistake. Obviously I need a little bit more filter.

Alex Rodriguez may soon be joining FOX full-time.
The former 3x American League MVP and World Series Champion is reportedly in talks for big money from the network, according to The Hollywood Reporter. If a deal is worked out, FOX would have exclusive rights to A-Rod, meaning he would no longer be able to be an analyst on ESPN. However, it wouldn’t be implemented until after this season.
Rodriguez currently does double duty on both networks. He serves as a FOX baseball analyst with a prominent role during the MLB playoffs alongside Kevin Burkhardt, David Ortiz and newcomer Derek Jeter.

It’s no secret that Joe Burrow was about to sign a massive contract extension—in some way, shape or form—before the Bengals’ star quarterback went down with what looked like a consequential injury, but the team now says is merely a calf strain, during Bengals practice Thursday.
It’s also no secret that, despite a far more complicated and nuanced reality, there is a perception that Cincinnati is not a generous, player-friendly franchise.
