With less than a week until the MLB trade deadline, it’s time to analyze some of the most frustrating teams of the season.
After hitting the Mets on Wednesday, it’s time to move on to the Padres.
What’s their deal?
At a glance, San Diego’s issues aren’t necessarily obvious. The Padres’ +51 run differential is third-best in the NL. (Only the Braves and Dodgers have outscored opponents by more.) Both their pitching (109 ERA+) and hitting (105 OPS+) have stayed above average at a team level.

With Colorado set to leave the Pac-12 to join its former conference, the Big 12, there’s plenty of speculation regarding the next shoe to drop in conference realignment.
How vulnerable is the Pac-12 with Colorado on the way out? Are more teams willing to bolt? After all, Colorado is the third team to spurn the conference, joining UCLA and USC who will join the Big 10 beginning in 2024.
Amid the chaos, here are the three best options to join Colorado in the Big 12, which now sits at 13 members.

The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs have long been heated rivals but what happened in the first inning of Thursday night’s game was something they probably have never seen in their intense history – a pitcher getting ejected after throwing at a hitter for such a lame reason.
In case you missed it, Cubs left fielder Ian Happ hit Cardinals catcher Willson Contreras in the head with his bat by accident on his backswing. Contreras had to leave the game after that and got a hug from Happ on his way out.

Red Bull has fitted his RB19 with a fifth gearbox, exceeding the allotment for the season
Max Verstappen is eying his eighth-straight victory at this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix. But the Red Bull driver will need to make up some spots in the Grand Prix Sunday to accomplish that feat.
According to multiple outlets, Red Bull has fitted his RB19 with a new gearbox, the fifth of the season. Under Formula 1 rules, teams are allowed four gearboxes over the course of a given season.

Luke Fickell has one goal on his mind when it comes to leading the Wisconsin Badgers.
Win a national title.
Fickell was hired after Paul Chryst was shown the exit following a 2-3 start, and Fickell faces monster expectations.
Fans expect immediate success for many reasons. The big ones are a re-tooled QB room featuring Tanner Mordecai, Phil Longo and Fickell overhauling an outdated offense and a weak schedule.
Well, Luke Fickell isn’t running from the fact people want a national title.

Live insight and analysis of a critical Friday at Spa
As dawn breaks at the historic Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, the sun rises on the final Friday ahead of Formula 1’s summer shutdown.
And what a critical Friday it is.
The final race ahead of the summer break, this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix, is the third F1 Sprint race of the 2023 calendar. As a result, the teams get just one hour of practice ahead of qualifying for Sunday’s Grand Prix. Making matters perhaps more complicated, weather could be an issue, as it often is at Spa.

We knew it was coming … the New York Mets are selling.
Announced late Thursday, the Mets have traded RHP David Robertson to the Miami Marlins.
The Mets will receive prospects Marco Vargas and Ronald Hernandez — an infielder and catcher, respectively.
