The LA Galaxy’s July 4th showdown against crosstown rival LAFC drew a crowd of 82,110 on Tuesday night, breaking the all-time MLS single-game attendance record. Fans who attended the game at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., witnessed the Galaxy win the game, 2–1.
The West Coast rivalry known as El Tráfico broke the previous attendance mark of 74,479 set on March 5, 2022, in Charlotte FC’s first-ever home game, also against the Galaxy, at Bank of America Stadium.

Nearly a month after he was sent down to the minor leagues amid an abysmal start to the season, Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah is finally on his way back to The Show.
Manoah will rejoin the big-league roster for Friday’s game against the Tigers, manager John Schneider told reporters on Tuesday. His promotion comes after an up-and-down minor league assignment that included an 11-run outing, though he later struck out 10 batters across five innings at Double A.

Senbere Teferi, the defending Peachtree Road Race champion, was leading the 10-kilometer race mere meters from the finish line but was led astray after following a police motorcycle that took a right turn off the course.
As a result, she finished third instead of winning the annual race. She won $3,000 instead of the winner’s prize of $10,000.

When Devon Allen announced his intention to return to football, it signaled that a new challenger was arriving for the title of NFL’s fastest player. But if you ask the former national champion hurdler, the debate is not a close one.
Allen, who focused solely on track and field after his college career ended in 2016 and signed with the Eagles in ’22, said there’s no question he’s the fastest NFL player in a recent interview with TMZ, singling out Seattle’s DK Metcalf and Miami’s Tyreek Hill as potential competitors.

Major League Baseball announced several additions to the 2023 All-Star Game on Tuesday, as replacements for injured players.
Among the additions was Tampa Bay shortstop Wander Franco, who was added to the American League All-Star roster in place of injured Yankees slugger Aaron Judge who will miss the July 11 Midsummer Classic in Seattle because of an injured toe.
Franco, who slugged his 10th home run of the season in the Rays’ 3-1 loss to the Phillies on Tuesday, is batting .286 with 43 RBIs and 26 stolen bases.
