College football is going to look a little different next fall after the NCAA passed three time-based rule changes on Thursday that are expected to shorten games.
As first reported by Sports Illustrated‘s Ross Dellenger in February, the NCAA was looking at ways to shorten games, and now, the rules have been made official.
The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved three key changes on Thursday that will be implemented at the Division I and Division II levels next season.

The Lions’ 2023 NFL draft plans might look different after four of their players, including star wide receiver Jameson Williams, were suspended Friday for violating the league’s gambling policy.
Williams and Stanley Berryhill, a backup wide receiver and special-teams contributor, will miss the first six games of the season because they reportedly placed bets on college games from an NFL facility.
Also, the team cut wide receiver Quintez Cephus and defensive back C.J.

The S2 Cognition Test, used by over a dozen NFL teams to test how quickly players see, think and react to in-game decisions, has grown in prominence and consequence since its inception some eight years ago.
And right now it is seemingly destroying C.J. Stroud.
Multiple sources during the current draft cycle have pulled back the curtain on some S2 scores. Everyone seems to know former Alabama quarterback Bryce Young scored high on the latest round of tests, joining some past test valedictorians as Josh Allen, Brock Purdy and Patrick Mahomes.
Young scored 98 percent out of 100.

The Clippers showcased a valiant effort against the Suns in Game 3, despite being down their two stars—Paul George and Kawhi Leonard—in a 129–124 loss on Thursday night.
Prior to Leonard being ruled out for Game 3, the Clippers star had been a catalyst for the franchise’s confidence and the key reason that many envisioned a deep postseason run for the team. Leonard averaged 34.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and six assists through the first two games of the first-round series.
Down 2–1 in the best-of-seven series, Los Angeles will seek to steal Game 4 in the friendly confines of Crypto.

The NFL has another situation on its hands stemming from players gambling, this one larger in size and scope than ever before. And here we have another argument about a league punishing its players for doing something it hopes every single one of us is doing in our spare time, as it assists the bottom line.
Is the punishment cruel, or is it merely hypocritical? The answer is complicated. Put as simply as possible: It depends on what the players bet on.
Friday’s news dump—which states that Lions WR Quintez Cephus and DB C.J.

Alabama football coach Nick Saban was not asked about his reported interest in Miami starting quarterback Tyler Van Dyke at a press conference Thursday before the Tide’s spring game (3 p.m. Saturday).
The story has not circulated as much throughout Alabama as it did in Miami. But Saban did not rule out adding another quarterback, even though he has four highly recruited players at the position, or someone at any other position. This is because the NCAA Transfer Portal runs both ways, which players need to remember.

Both the Cavaliers and Lakers tried the common tactic early in their playoff series. Has it worked for either team consistently?
Over the last week, the NBA took the intensity barometer and turned the dial all the way up.
Playoff basketball is back, and the first few games in each series are a great reminder of why we languish through the regular season. The contests are all-out wars and physical battles, thrilling for consumers and surreal experiences for the players to be part of.

Detroit Lions wide receiver Jameson Williams was among the group of five players in the NFL to be suspended for violating the league’s gambling policy. The former Alabama standout’s representation released a statement confirming his six-game suspension while outlining more details about the situation.
Alliance Sports shared a memo on behalf of Williams, as relayed by ESPN’s Adam Schefter, explaining that the violation was not for the act of gambling, but instead where the gambling took place.

New Jersey Devils star Jack Hughes got what could be the best compliment a hockey player could ever receive, and it came from the Great One himself, Wayne Gretzky.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs have not been kind to Hughes’ Devils through two games, as they currently trail the New Rangers 2-0. It’s been a lopsided opening-round series, with the Rangers outscoring the Devils 10-2, after winning both games in New Jersey by a score of 5-1.
This all makes anyone who picked the Devils in their bracket *sheepishly raises hand* look like a complete and utter doofus.
