As is often the case during big-time football games at State Farm Stadium, a slippery field took center stage during Super Bowl LVII between the Chiefs and Eagles.
Kansas City and Philadelphia’s players found getting traction on the Glendale, Ariz. field’s indoor natural grass difficult, as did Michigan and TCU in the Fiesta Bowl six weeks prior. The NFL, however, has appeared to deny its role in creating a subpar environment in its championship game.
“The NFL has an unofficial excuse for the situation, one that has been communicated when owners ask about it.

While it has been widely reported that Damian Lillard wants to join Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo on the Heat, the current state of that potential deal remains one big question mark. Any possible deal Miami could offer the Trail Blazers for their star is unlikely to move the needle with a third or even fourth team getting involved.
The waiting game for something to come together could take longer than Lillard hopes, but The Ringer’s Bill Simmons offered a candid outlook on a more realistic trade that gives him an immediate chance to win a title.

July is a busy month on the Formula 1 calendar. With four grands prix in five weekends, there is no rest for the weary.

Still, it’s not too early to take a look at a handful of the most underrated pickups throughout the league to this point. We’ll start with the moves in the East today, before offering a look at some of the best under-the-radar acquisitions in the West later in the week.

ESPN and Disney discriminated against Sage Steele.
The corporation admitted so in offering her $501,000 to settle her lawsuit against the company for violating her First Amendment and Connecticut free-speech rights.
Front Office Sports reported the figure on Monday in an obvious leak from Disney to frame Steele as a greedy wicked witch.

It appears the Mountain West Conference and San Diego State are gearing up for a major war.
The MWC has decided to withhold a $6.6 million payment due to the Aztecs claiming SDSU left the conference and owes a $17 million exit fee, according to The San Diego Union-Tribune.
The issue all stems from a letter sent from SDSU to the MWC in June “to formally notice that San Diego State University intends to resign” its membership in anticipation of a PAC-12 invite that never came.
