The 49ers have been fielding calls from other teams regarding interest in trading for quarterback Trey Lance, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. San Francisco is likely going with second-year quarterback Brock Purdy as the team’s future starter.
Lance was selected with the No. 3 pick in the 2021 NFL draft and started his career as Jimmy Garoppolo’s backup with the expectation that he’d take over as starter eventually. He did just that in 2022—for just two games.

The streak has been broken!
With the Suns 123–109 victory over the Los Angeles Clippers in Tuesday night’s Game 2 first-round tilt, Chris Paul broke a 13-game playoff losing streak in games officiated by Scott Foster.
The streak of playoff losses for Paul extends back to 2014 when he was a member of the Clippers. With the “Scott Foster Curse” now broken, NBA Twitter went wild following the game on Tuesday night.

Celtics handle Hawks to take two-game lead, 119-106
Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla seems to have finally realized what makes his team tick at the most productive rate: Derrick White. To the tune of 26 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, White was the X-factor as Boston took a 2-0 lead over the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday.

Zac Robinson spent a few years helping quarterback prospects prepare for the NFL scouting combine and the draft before working with Matthew Stafford as the Rams’ quarterbacks coach and pass-game coordinator.
Robinson prioritized drops from underneath the center, footwork off play-action passing, college film reviews and prepped quarterbacks as much as he could for life in the NFL. But Robinson often stopped for questions and created time for comprehension during a chaotic period in which QB prospects often overwhelm themselves by feeling the need to be perfect to impress teams.

Antonio Brown claims everything started unraveling with Tom Brady over his 2021 contract.
The former Buccaneers flamed out of the NFL in spectacular fashion when he ran off the field and refused to play during a game against the Jets in 2021.
His antics cost him his job and he hasn’t come close to playing a snap of NFL action ever since. Now, he claims his issues with Brady started before the season even began.

EXCLUSIVE: Former UFC fighter Karl Roberson is accused of targeting a childhood friend in a home burglary and stealing more than $200,000 in “exotic jewelry and valuables.”
Ryan Leonard was about 18 years old when he met a then-14-year-old Roberson, as they were both from Neptune City, New Jersey. Leonard knew him as a “humble person that wanted to be a great superstar athlete.”
However, Leonard’s thoughts on Roberson quickly changed after what occurred on Dec. 26, 2022.

The NBA dropped some huge news late Tuesday night when it announced that Golden State star Draymond Green will be suspended for Game 3 of the Warriors–Kings series for stomping on Sacramento center Domantas Sabonis late in Game 2.
While that punishment seems a bit harsh, it now leaves the defending NBA champs in quite a hole as they will try to avoid going down 0–3 in their first-round series with the Kings when they host Sacramento on Thursday night.

Deshaun Watson did about the only thing that made sense while talking to reporters on Tuesday, as the Cleveland Browns continued their offseason conditioning program: He promised stuff’s going to be different.
He even made the point it’s already different for him in Cleveland.
“Honestly it’s night and day,” Watson said.

In point of fact, it’s not quite all night and day.

Rangers, Lightning, Kraken, and the Jets all won on the road Tuesday night
The second night of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs got underway Tuesday night, and it paid to be on the road.
All four visiting teams won — and won big — on Tuesday night.

New York Rangers 5, New Jersey Devils 1
The New Jersey Devils took three of their four games against the New York Rangers this season, including their most-recent meeting at the end of March.

The men’s college basketball coaching carousel has mostly come to a halt. A few low-major jobs remain open, but unless there’s a late surprise, every high-profile job from the traditional major conferences has been filled after what was a chaotic cycle of moves featuring several big names on the move.
Which programs were the biggest winners and losers this carousel? Sports Illustrated graded every hire to decide who did the best (and worst) for their program this spring.
