Josh Donaldson, who has drawn the ire of Yankees fans this year, is on a somewhat strange side of history after hitting his 10th home run of the season in New York’s 6–3 win over the Cubs on Saturday.
The veteran slugger, who entered Saturday afternoon’s tilt hitting just .125 (2-for-16) in the month of July, belted his second home run of the current home stand but it comes with a dubious distinction.
With the blast, Donaldson reached double-digit home runs but he only has 14 total hits in 2023.

Tigers pitchers Matt Manning, Jason Foley and Alex Lange combined to no-hit the Blue Jays in a 2–0 win at Comerica Park on Saturday afternoon.
Manning got the start just a few weeks after returning from the injured list with a broken foot. The 25 year-old came into the game with a 4.84 ERA but threw 6.2 no-hit innings on 91 pitches. After Manning walked Cavan Biggio in the seventh, manager A.J. Hinch chose to pull him with the tying run coming to the plate to try and preserve the lead.
From there, Foley and Lange did the rest in relief, each retiring every batter they faced.

Hazing allegations recently investigated within Northwestern’s football program involved coerced sexual acts, according to a Saturday afternoon report from Nicole Markus, Alyce Brown, Cole Reynolds and Divya Bhardwaj of the university’s newspaper, The Daily Northwestern.
The investigation resulted in Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald receiving a two-week suspension on Friday. Investigators concluded that while they could not prove Fitzgerald was aware of hazing within the program, allegations made by a whistleblower were “largely supported by evidence.

Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray was on the receiving end of yet another diss, only this time it didn’t have anything to do with his height. At least not directly.
No; this time, Murray found himself toward the bottom of a tiered ranking thrown together by CBS Sports’ Will Brinson.
NFL Draft analyst Marcus Whitman spotted the offending list. He tweeted it out, calling Murray “officially the most underrated player in professional sports.”
Murray himself caught this and threw his own comment on the post.

I love it.

The Suns are the front-runner to sign free agent Bol Bol, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.
Last season, Bol played in 70 games for the Magic. However, Orlando released the former Oregon star on Tuesday. Bol’s release was not a total surprise as Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports reported that two teams—Phoenix and Dallas—were in the mix for potentially crafting a deal for the big man around the time of this year’s NBA draft.
Now, according to Charania, rival teams are expecting Bol to sign with Phoenix in the near future.

Sorenstam could not get into a groove at Pebble Beach as the U.S. Women’s Open marks the end of her illustrious career.
Annika Sorenstam struggled over her two rounds at Pebble Beach, a far cry from her dominant performances throughout her illustrious career.
“The course kicked my booty,” Sorenstam said after her 7-over round of 79 on Friday.
The Swede shot an 8-over 80 in her opening round on Thursday, thus missing the cut by nine strokes at the U.S. Women’s Open in what will likely be her last major championship.

Veteran guard Patty Mills has one of the most favorable contracts in the league for trades, and he’s finding that out the hard way this offseason.
The Thunder, who just acquired Mills from Houston, will send Mills to Atlanta in exchange for veteran forward Rudy Gay, guard TyTy Washington, big man Usman Garuba and a second-round pick, according to a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
Per Wojnarowski, it’s no guarantee that Mills remains in Atlanta either. His $6.8 million expiring contract has had value in trades all offseason, and that is expected to continue.
