With free agency and the draft in the rearview mirror, it’s a perfect time to assess which teams improved the most this offseason.
Some teams aced the draft, but the ones that will make the most noise throughout the 2023 NFL season are those that had a good mix of veteran and rookie additions.
Every team is on a different path, with some in the midst of a rebuild project, while others are fighting to get over the postseason hump. Steps forward can’t be taken without productive offseason moves during free agency and the draft.

LeBron James and the Lakers had their season come to an Monday with their Game 4 loss to Nikola Jokić and the Nuggets, who are now off to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history. 
James had a monster first half, scoring 31 points, but then cooled off in the second half with just nine points and failed in his attempt to tie the game in the final seconds. 
Following the game James spoke about his NBA future, saying he has some big decisions to make this summer.

It’s a big number tonight for the Cardinals vs. the Reds, all the way up at 10.5, but we aren’t going to shy away.
Games at Great American have averaged 10.2 runs per game this season, and there’s no reason to think this one won’t be another high-scoring affair. Monday night’s contest ended with a run total of 11 as the Reds edged the Cardinals, 6-5.

The Vols are 38-18 and 16-14 now and a mere No. 7 seed in the 2023 SEC Tournament that opens Tuesday at the Hoover Met in Hoover, Alabama. Tennessee is scheduled to play No. 10 seed Texas A&M (32-23, 14-16) at 2 p.m. on the SEC Network, which will televise all games through Saturday. The championship game will be at 3 p.m. Sunday on ESPN2.

With rumors swirling of a shock offer from Ferrari, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff is convinced Lewis Hamilton will stay with the Silver Arrows
Following a report that Ferrari was preparing a shock offer to lure Lewis Hamilton to the Scuderia, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has issued his response. Speaking with Austrian outlet Osterreich, the Mercedes boss stated he was “firmly convinced” that Lewis Hamilton will return to the Silver Arrows.

With the NFL offseason quieting down, many teams will use the time between now and training camp to start thinking about finances.
Which contracts should be extended? Who makes for a smart post–June 1 cut or trade? Who is available to acquire from another team, and who remains on the market?

Does anyone want the Pac-12?
The future of the Pac-12 seems to be about as stable as the deck of the Titanic. As USC and UCLA head for the Big Ten at the end of this season, the conference is looking murkier and murkier by the day (and Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark looking to add more schools in the wake of Oklahoma and Texas going to the SEC), and now is a more crucial time than ever for the Pac-12 to solidify things like TV deals and licensing.

What games could be flexed out of TNF next NFL season?
At the NFL’s Spring League Meetings on Monday, a resolution was approved allowing for flex scheduling of Thursday Night Football games for the 2023 season. The resolution was approved on a trial basis for the upcoming season.
According to the resolution, TNF games in Weeks 13 through 17 could be flexed to a Sunday afternoon start time. Teams would be required to receive 28 days’ notice from the league office.

The thought of retiring has entered LeBron James’ mind, at least he wants us all to think it has.
Following the Los Angeles Lakers being swept by the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals on Monday night, James was asked what his plans are for next year. While most were expecting him to give a generic answer about getting to the NBA Finals, that isn’t the route he took.
“We’ll see, we’ll see what happens going forward,” James said. “I don’t know. I don’t know. I’ve got a lot to think about, to be honest. I’ve got a lot to think about, to be honest.
