Jalen Carter, Christian Gonzalez, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba stand out as night-one steals
NFL draft fans love the idea of a “steal.”
Of course, steals are in the eyes of the beholder. With 32 teams, each having different draft boards, needs, and roster decisions, a steal in the eyes of one fanbase could be a reach in the eyes of another.
Still, every night of the NFL draft offers opportunities to take advantage and strike while the iron is hot.

KANSAS CITY — This NFL draft saw three black quarterbacks selected within the first four picks of the first round and, yes, that is the first time that’s happened in league history.
And the reason I know is because a reporter asked Bryce Young about it. And Young said he was proud to be part of history.
Then the same reporter asked C.J. Stroud about it.
During ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage on Thursday night, analyst and former NFL safety Louis Riddick made a comment that included the words ‘Indians’ and ‘chiefs.’ While what he said was a little odd, it doesn’t make him or what he said offensive or racist, despite some folks on Twitter and Sports Illustrated attempting to insinuate that after the fact.
The moment came after the Arizona Cardinals selected Paris Johnson Jr. with the sixth-overall pick.
Yahoo Sports draft expert Charles McDonald grades each first-round pick from Thursday.
Maybe everyone should have seen this coming. He was good at Kentucky, but hardly top-pick good.
If QB Will Levis is embarrassed he didn’t get picked in the first round, he shouldn’t be. He’s the latest victim of the hype machine.

Plus more winners and losers from the draft including Philly’s mammoth haul, and whatever the hell the Lions did.
When the dust settled on the 1st round of the 2023 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans didn’t overthink the process. A team in dire need of talent made the biggest splash of Thursday by making back-to-back picks at No. 2 and No. 3, getting their offensive and defensive cornerstones. However, as the night progressed anyone reading between the lines could see that things weren’t nearly as peachy in Houston as we first thought.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum led a closely-contested effort to end Trae Young and Dejounte Murray’s first season together
Boston got out to a quick 12-2 start in hopes an early haymaker would be enough to deter Atlanta, but they managed to stay in it early and throughout the game with no other double-digit lead by either team at any point in the game. The 14-3 Boston run to separate late, punctuated by a Marcus Smart three, sure did feel like a double-digit lead though.
18 for Marcus Smart, NONE BIGGER than these 3.
Will Levis slipped out of the first round of the NFL Draft, and the slide was nothing short of shocking.
Just a couple days ago, the former Kentucky had very high odds of going second overall. There was almost no shot he was going to slip out of the top 10 and ESPN put his odds of dropping out of the first round of less than 1%.
However, that’s exactly what happened, and that means the former Kentucky QB will likely find his team Friday.
According to ESPN Analytics, there was a 92% chance that Will Levis was going to be picked in the top 10. pic.twitter.
Tony Mitchell shed some tears when police slapped on the handcuffs during his March arrest.
The freshman DB, who was a four star recruit in the 2023 class before enrolling, was arrested in Florida in March after police stopped him and allegedly found guns and drugs in his vehicle.
He wasn’t charged for the gun being in the car, but was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to sell and/or deliver. Mitchell is also accused of driving faster than 140 mph in a possible attempt to evade police. He was immediately suspended by head coach Nick Saban.
